New Muffler

I finally got a price to put the exhaust on the van from a dealership – it almost scared me to death – almost $800!  I went to buy the exhaust for myself at the parts store and it was $460.  So I went online to a parts store that I buy parts from, not knowing if they sell exhaust or not and purchased the whole exhaust shipped right to me for half.  I’ll be installing it myself next week and saving a butt load of cash this way.

New tires for my truck

Funny how time flies!  I need new tires for my truck!  I’ve been looking around from Wal-Mart to Firestone to Costco to Sam’s to PepBoys, they all have good tires.  But as I shopped, I found one thing in common; they all sell Bridgestone Tires.  I’ve wanted to try Bridgestone Tires for a long time; I’ve always liked the rubber consistency.  They were quiet on the road but had a good all-year round grip, including from ice and snow to rain to mud.  Another thing I found out was that when you buy four Bridgetone tires they have a promotion where they give you a n American Express card worth $150 to spend as a bonus for buying four new tires; you just have to send in a copy of the receipt and they will send you the card in the mail to spend as you wish.  Well, that drops the price of the tires down below the price of any other tire, so that is why I will buy these tires.

NASCAR diecast collection

Over the last ten years I’ve been collecting certain die-cast cars of NASCAR drivers that are my favorites, and who win the top races.  I don’t have all the die-cast cars of every race driver out there, but I do have at least one of most every driver that has won a major race.  Of course, we all know the top drivers are Ernie Irvin,Kyle Busch,Tony Stewert and Jeff Gordon.  Also on occasion Michael Waltrip and Jeff Burton have won races.  Oh, I almost forgot Dale Ernhardt and Dale Ernhardt Jr!  I have a lot of their cars, especially the ones with the fancy paint jobs.

One of my favorites die-cast cars is Ernhardt’s car with the pastel colors.  You know what I mean if you’ve seen it.  I especially enjoy collecting the cars that are painted up like Star Wars or Superman, I have one that has a picture of Brooks & Dunn on it, one with Tweety Bird & Sylvester, and one with the Incredible Hulk.  That one is really sharp.  We all know like everything else, the price of these cars keeps going up, and with my limited funds I even take the time to discuss this with my wife with just having two or three cars a year versus buying eight or ten.  She’s a nut about the finances especially when the bills barely get paid each month.

I haven’t bought a car for pretty much a year now, but what I’m pretty much doing now is buying one or two cars a year, those being the ones of the top #1 and #2 drivers that finish in the top points of NASCAR for the year, that way I have a record each year and a car of the top driver.

Bad car wash

I took the car to a car wash.  I was very unhappy with the poor job that the car wash had done.  At this particular car wash, you pay AFTER the car is washed, not before.  (Bad business, that one!)

So the attendant had not thoroughly sprayed down the car with cleansers and the car came out looking almost as dirty as it did going in.  So I told the lady who was collecting the money that I was not going to pay $8.00 for such a cruddy job.  I wanted them to wash it again, this time using the cleansers that they should have used the first time.  She said if I wanted it washed again, I had to pay for two car washes!  I told her that I was not satisfied and they needed to give me a clean car for the original $8.  She got nasty and I told her that she could kiss my *** (well, you get the idea, right?)

So she said “You’re a crazy man, I’m calling the police!”  I told her “Bring it on!”

Car alarm for dooryard

Filed under: General Living,Home Improvement — Copa @ 6:30 pm

I live quite a little ways off of the road and can never really tell if someone is turning around in my dooryard, or coming up to visit.  I don’t like to be surprised.  So I’ve been reading in a lot of magazines about motion detectors that you can hide anywhere in your dooryard so when a vehicle passes that point it sets off an alarm in your house.  I would set it x number of feet off of the road so that if someone is just turning around, it won’t go off, but if they come up a certain amount of feet into the dooryard, I’ll know they are coming up to the house, and we’ll know that they are coming.

They are fairly inexpensive and easy to install.  I hope to put one in real soon!
