It seems as if we are seeing more and more used construction equipment for sale in various lots, drive ways, yards and on the side of the road. The construction business has been in such a slump for so long, with no end in sight and it breaks my heart to see so many good hard working construction workers out of work for so long. My brother-in-law has had his backhoe for sale for over a year now with very few people even making any kind of inquires with no serious buyers trying to knock down his door waving cold hard case in front of his face.
Right now is a great time to buy up any used heavy equipment of course. I have an old friend who’s father is doing very well buying used dozers and the like and reselling them. Of course to do something like that you have to have money to begin with. The old saying “It takes money to make money” is oh so very true.

Tax time is over for most of us this year, thank goodness. We got our tax refund direct deposited this year, and I was glad to get it. I hope that means that we don’t have to worry about any IRS tax audits this year, but from what I hear folks say they could decide to audit us at any time. We have all heard horror stories about these horrible audits, not something that I would look forward to what so ever.

Since we have finally gotten the much needed rain these past couple of days it has given me a chance to tackle some of the indoor tasks that have been being neglected due to the wonderful warm weather that has brought so many of us outside for the past month or go. There has been a flurry of outside activity just about anywhere you look due to this extreme weather this spring, when normally we wouldn’t be seeing this much action going on for another couple of weeks or so. But with no rain to speak of lately there has been a lot of concern with the Global Warming issue so we are all grateful for the April showers to finally come into play. After all it is the April Showers that bring the May flowers that we all enjoy as well as a good amount of other vegetation that needs our precious rain waters to grow.
So after getting a good chunk of the inside chores taken care of it is nice to be able to kick back and spend some time on my laptop online. I have really started to enjoy reading a variety of blogs that are becoming so popular on the Internet. Funny how blogs have become so popular over just the last couple of years. You’d be hard put to find someone that doesn’t know what a blog was.
One of my favorite websites is frugaldad.com, which I read about from the New York Times a while back and I actually managed to remember the URL all the way back home (normally I forget websites that I want to check out if I don’t write them down and I normally don’t write them down) so it must have made some type of impression on me. At frugaldad.com the writer compiles a lot of good information that is intended to help his readers save money in these economically challenged times. You can find coupons, articles and links galore there that I have taken advantage of from time to time. Like at Christmas I found a good amount of toys r us deals there that helped saved some of our hard earned cash since we have a large amount of small children in the family right now.
The rain is supposed to let up by the weekend, which works out real well. There are a lot of good outdoor things planned for this weekend all over the surrounding counties that would be devastated if it were to rain and I plan on attending a couple myself before the weather turns real hot and then we start staying inside with the a/c cranked up.

One of the things that I’ve always been a little bit concerned about with these widely used flash drives is just how secure can they be? They are so very small it is easy to lose them, and it could be very easy for some “shady” character to “palm” them and take off without you even knowing it! I’m just saying…

This morning as I was driving to work I noticed that someone had been playing a game of bashing mailboxes last night. Dozens of mailboxes in a row had been crushed by a baseball bat. That’s really a shame because some of the mailboxes were really nice mailboxes – some seemed to have been hand painted, some were expensive looking decorator style mailboxes.
The CBU mailboxes at the apartment complex at the end of the street got the worse of it all, which really surprises me. I would think that with all of the people that reside in those apartments that someone would have seen or heard people destroying their cluster mailboxes, no matter what time, day or night. Those were pretty newly purchased and just recently installed approved cluster mailboxes and they aren’t cheap. I’m sure the landlord of those apartments isn’t happy with all this nonsense.
Thank goodness my mailbox wasn’t hit – yet! I think it’s a shame that people feel that they have the right to destroy other people’s mailboxes!
