One of the things that drives me crazy is how nobody seems to be wearing watches anymore. People say that they don’t need one because they have cellphones that will show them the time. That doesn’t work for me because the cellphone is in a pocket, or purse, or holster and you have to push a couple of buttons to get the cellphone to wake up before you can find out the time. With a wrist watch all you have to do is look at your wrist, and there you have it – the correct time! And in many cases you see the date and day of the week too.

A couple of months ago I made the unfortunate mistake of putting a magnetic bracelet in the same valet cubby as my watches, and left them there for a few days. When I went to put on my watch I saw it had stopped. Thinking that was odd, and putting it aside with the thought that I would just have to go buy a new battery, I picked up a second watch. That one had stopped too! Even weirder, both watches had stopped at the exact same hour and minute!

So it took both watches to the jewelry store to buy a new batteries for them  and the price I was quoted for the new batteries were more expensive than if I had bought myself a new watch! So in addition to competing with cellphones for telling the time, the cost of battery replacement can be a big turn-off!

Getting arrested is never a good time, but at least these days we have a lot of options to help with issues like this. Back in the day trying to find a good california criminal lawyer could be a time consuming task if you didn’t all ready have one on retainer or know one from friends or family. The best you could hope for was looking through the good old paper version of the Yellow Pages and the most that could offer was a name, address, phone number and a short ad, if they actually had one. Any attorney worth their while, in my opinion, will have a website with a lot of pertinent information for you to check out. It’s like a super duper sized Yellow Pages of the 21st century and you gotta love all that the Internet brings to us these days. When you are in a sticky situation, such as being accused of a crime, the more you know, the better off you will be.

I am interested in finding a good weight loss program.  It seems that every time I go to the doctor’s office they weigh me and I’ve gained weight.  I think that the insulin that the doctor put me on for my diabetes is responsible for some of the weight gain; I’ve tried hard to lose weight by eating less high calorie foods and eating more salads.

My wife told me to go to the Internet and look at the Weight Loss Diet Help website.  It reviews many of the commercial weight loss programs that are available to today’s consumer.  It lists and compares the features and costs of the different programs, and it provides links that lead you to offers of discount coupons and offers to many of the programs.  The diets I’ve already heard about are the South Beach Diet, Medifast, Nutrisystem and WeightWatchers.  They also talk about a couple of diets that I’ve never heard of before.

What I found even more interesting about the website was that it had several interesting articles about the subject – it had an article about healthy weight loss and an article about the benefits of gym workouts that I found most informative.

Ever since my car accident, cold and wet weather has made me miserable. So, since it has been raining and snowing all day long today, it was a good day to sleep in my recliner chair beside the fireplace and nap off and on while enjoying our newly installed satellite television service. Everyone I know has been telling me that when there is bad weather we will suffer from bad television reception, but so far that hasn’t happened yet.

For so many years both of my parents thought that their beloved German Shepard was the best type of Home Security Systems around hands down. He always made for good company and always made them feel safe in their own home. But these days there is such a huge increase in home break ins that they are now giving second thoughts about only relying on their guard dog. It’s unfortunately gotten so bad that we are now seeing more and more of the signs in people’s yards announcing that they have had the installation of a well known Home Alarm System company, ADT. There are more of these types of signs than the For Sale and Foreclosure signs that have been placed in so many people’s front yards.

My folks have gotten very proficient on using the Internet. They are not the type of seniors that are known for shying away from today’s technology. They are embracing it and using to the best of the abilities. I’m so proud of them for being that way. They have taken their time and taught several of their senior friends on how to use the Internet in many ways. So my mom was looking for tips on how to keep their home and property safe and they have decided to go ahead and have ADT Home Security come out and install a good quality security system for them. I’m so  glad to hear it and I really hope that it makes them have more peace of mind so that they can spend their “golden years” having fun in the sun and on the water rather than worrying about some jerk breaking in and possibly hurting them while trying to steel all of the things that they have worked so hard to get.
