Getting arrested is never a good time, but at least these days we have a lot of options to help with issues like this. Back in the day trying to find a good california criminal lawyer could be a time consuming task if you didn’t all ready have one on retainer or know one from friends or family. The best you could hope for was looking through the good old paper version of the Yellow Pages and the most that could offer was a name, address, phone number and a short ad, if they actually had one. Not a whole lot of good information could be gained from that.

Today you can Google “criminal defense attorney los angeles” and found numerous options to check out on the World Wide Web. Any attorney worth their while, in my opinion, will have a website with a lot of pertinent information for you to check out. It’s like a super duper sized Yellow Pages of the 21st century and you gotta love all that the Internet brings to us these days. When you are in a sticky situation, such as being accused of a crime, the more you know, the better off you will be.

I find all the rhetoric that I’m hearing on television lately about how raising taxes on the country’s wealthiest citizens is paramount to class warfare a lot of hooey. My understanding of class warfare is when you make living conditions impossible for survival. From what I’ve been hearing, proposals on tax increases are simply to bring the taxes that go up to the level that they were when the Clintons were in the white house.

When the Clintons were in the White House I did not hear of any wealthy citizens being taxed to the point where they could not survive. The suggestion that entitlements be cut for the elderly and disabled is unconscionable. Reducing the benefits that go to the country’s truly needy should not even be on the bargaining table.

My uncle never got over his experience in the Vietnam Police Action mentally. He spent a good amount of his time in the service under the waters in a submarine, which is where they believe he contacted this type of cancer. So by serving his country his head is all screwed up for life and now we are learning that his physical condition, which is deteriorating rapidly is due to his time over seas as well. A double whammy, if you will.

The VA has truly been wonderful. They had such a bad reputation for so very long that my uncle stayed away from anything to do with the VA hospital, but thankfully he was persuaded to give them a try, which he did, and it’s all been good, so far and I hope that they continue to take the best possible care of this special person in my family’s life.

Humans, like most primates, have a fairly small set of major driving forces resulting in behavior. One of the strongest forces is the need to be part of a group, which for our species in necessary for survival (in the ancient days, being expelled from the group meant certain death, from starvation or animal attack, so this force is strong).

Another force is that an awful lot of people want to be the head ape, or at least be in good favor with the head ape. Thus we have leaders or celebrities and their entourages. This desire to be head ape is what drives politics, corporate greed, all kinds of things. It is basic biology and we can see examples of this throughout the animal kingdom.

One of my favorite parts of the show is called “The Word.” And here is one of my all-time favorite “The Word” segments. Since this aired, the tax cuts were extended, so I guess we’ll all be enjoying a lot of lime flavored pee in the near future!
