The internet helps with homework by making it easy for students to find a specific topic all with a few clicks of the mouse. For example, I did a research paper on animals that live in Antarctica. I was able to type in those exact words in a search engine and click go. Within seconds I found hundreds of different sites that had information about animals that live in Antarctica. I was able to get statistics, graphs, pictures, and all the information I needed for my paper. I was also able to print out images to make a nice presentation as well. All of this was easy to do using ClearTVBundle.com to go online. My research paper was a breeze to do because the information I needed was all right in front of my face. After I gathered all the information I was even able to look up how to format it. I found a research paper template that walked me through writing the paper. I was even able to check my spelling and grammar. Within a few hours my research paper was ready to be printed and handed into my teacher.
Just got back in the house from walking the dogs and they were very upset during the walk. I couldn’t tell what was bothering them until we got around the back corner of our property and there was a black bear up on the edge of the woods. I only saw it for a brief moment, as the dogs barking must have scared it off. I’m rather glad that the barking didn’t agitate the bear into charging us.
It’s unusual to see a bear this close to the house. I am going to have to be more vigilant while outdoors from now on.
My wife made an appointment to have me take one of our dogs to the vet for her rabies shot. It seems that we needed a new one in order to get her county dog tag. So I went ahead and took the dog to the vet. The shot itself was only about $20, but they charged me over $50 for a “wellness check” that we never asked for!
Now that might be legal, but I think it is totally unethical to charge $50 for a “wellness check” that we didn’t ask for! I think that before they started checking her over they should have asked me if I wanted that done and advised that there would be a $50 charge for it! I feel totally ripped off!
Now I find out that I could have taken her to Petco to one of their shot clinics and had the shot done for only $18 and no “wellness check” fee. I don’t think it takes a genius to figure out where the next rabies shot will be coming from, do you?
You can never tell these days if the photos that are being passed around on the Internet are for real or not. I just received this photo in my email today. I got a good laugh out of it and wanted to pass it along here for grins and giggles.
It has been many years since we needed to use any of our baby gates that we now have stored in the basement. I’ve been teasing my wife for years that we have no need for any of them any more because our youngest baby is twenty one years old now! But she reminds me that they are also handy to use to keep the pets from going into room that we want to keep them out of if the need arises. The last several times we needed to use anything like that we tried a couple different pressure gates - we didn’t want to ruin the walls by drilling holes in them.
The problem with those gates, though, was that they frequently fell down. And of course, it’s never a good time for a baby gate to fall down! Come to think of it, we just used one of those two months ago when we needed to keep the basement door open to air out but we wanted to keep the dogs inside! OK, so maybe it IS a good idea we held on to them! I know that my wife would love to get more puppies in the future. She LOVES dogs! But I’ve always pointed out that it would be difficult in this house because of the open layout to keep puppies in the kitchen, where there is no carpeting. Just my luck she found some extra wide baby gates that can be used in different configurations that would probably take care of that problem! That’s just like my wife – she is always overcoming my objections! Probably something she learned in a marketing course!
A friend of mine told me that his female chihuahua is expecting a litter of puppies, and he wants me to have one of the puppies. He said I could have one for free! He said that they are pure bred puppies. I don’t know how much money chihuahua puppies cost around here, but I am under the impression that just about any pure bred puppy is expensive to buy. I didn’t know much about chihuahua dogs, so I wanted to get some pet information on the breed before discussing it with my wife. After all, it is a good idea to be well informed on a subject before bringing the subject with my wife – she has a tendency to be quite knowledgeable about just about everything!
Well the contractor came back and finished fixing the doggie door. The dogs have learned to use it pretty quickly, but they aren’t going out through it much yet because it has been raining all day. It sure has been a relief to not have to get up and let them in and out and in and out every five minutes! I’m glad we got it, and the contractor that put it in charged us a very fair price. I was expecting to have to pay him more because it took longer than he expected; but he charged only what his original estimate was. I’m thinking maybe it’s because I baked a batch of my famous peanut butter fudge cookies and let him have a few! One interesting thing that came out of this is that he has offered me a job, and I’m thinking about taking it!
Today I decided it was time to give the dog a bath. We’ve had him for two years now, and have never bathed him. I’ve wanted my wife to give him a bath but she keeps telling me that the only reason to give a dog a bath is if he smells bad; brushing him should get the dirt out. And my wife keeps telling me that before a dog gets a bath he should get a good grooming to keep the mats from getting worse. So today I gave the dog a good brushing and gave him a bath in the laundry tub. He did well in the tub, much better than I expected! As soon as I lifted him out of the tub and dried him with a towel, though he got squirmy. I carried him out to the back yard so he could shake, and the first thing he did was find a patch of mud to roll in! So much for squeaky clean!
A couple of weeks ago we bought a doggie door. We’ve hired a contractor to install it, with the theory that he would be better qualified to put it in than I am, and if anything goes wrong with the installation, he is the one that has to deal with fixing it. Well he was supposed to come last Friday but called and rescheduled for today. He came out today about 11am, and expected to be done by 2pm. Well, he made a few mistakes and was still working on it at 6pm when he called it quits for the day. He said he’ll be back out tomorrow to fix it. I hope so! I’m looking forward to having the dogs enjoy the convenience of letting themselves in and out!
I read this morning on one of the Internet websites (I think it was Yahoo) a story about a chimpanzee in a zoo that stores up rocks and then throws them when he is angry at the zoo visitors. The article was making a big deal about it because the scientists were saying that this shows that chimpanzees can plan ahead.
Then the article mentions the incident with the pet chimpanzee that attacked his owner’s friend. It goes on to say that the owner speculated that the chimp had attacked her friend because she had a new hairdo, was driving a different car, and was holding a toy stuffed animal in front of her face, trying to lure the chimp to come inside the house. That’s the first I’d heard of all that! Well no wonder he attacked her! He was feeling threatened by a stranger on his turf! How sad is that!
I don’t remember if I ever told you about our little dog! We have a little dog that was a stray that wandered into our yard two years ago. We call him Pita. At first we didn’t know what kind of dog he was, but we have been told that he was probably the runt of a litter of North American Shepherds. I’ve tried to find information about the breed here and there, and just ran a search on North American Shepherds on a search engine I just learned about. The search experience was different than what I have experienced with other search engines; this particular time I found a site that I had not found before. It led me to a web page that was very informative about the breed, and I discovered that our little Pita is not a runt at all! He is exactly the right size!
We live in an area that is largely horse farms. It seems that the biggest interest in the area is with horse-related activities, from horse & pony shows to fox hunts. When we drive from town to our house, we drive past a lot of horse farms. They really are beautiful horses! There is one pasture we drive past that my wife always looks closely at. There are some Belgium draft horses usuallyi n that field, and my wife always wants to catch a glimpse of them.
Almost a day doesn’t go by when I’m driving somewhere that I don’t end up driving behind someone’s horse trailer! I recently was talking with one of my neighbors about the “horse community” and how they manage to meet other people that are also “horse people.”
She told me that mostly they meet each other through events that they go to, but some of them also use online dating services. She said that she found out about a dating service that is dedicated exclusively to horse lovers that her friend has joined recently. The service offers FREE sign-up and gives members two levels of membership to choose from; a guest membership and a gold membership.
My wife has been interested and very actively involved in training our dogs from an early age. She got her first puppy when she was in her early 20’s and she took it to a place that taught her how to train it. She (and the puppy) learned very well, and she has applied what she has learned to every dog she has owned since that time. She truly believes that our pets are family members, and she makes sure that they are cared for as well as any human in the house. That being said, she won’t feed them people food (except cheese.) When we go away on vacation she is always reluctant to board our pets, and tries to find someone to pet sit for us. Having a caring pet sitter is always her first choice; she says it is less traumatic for the pets when we go away.
So when her girl friend Tanya from San Diego called us last week and said she was coming into town for the holidays and was going to stop in for a visit, the conversation naturally turned to what was she going to do with her pets? My wife told Tanya that she would look up a San Diego pet sitting service on the Internet and let her know what she could find. She called her back this afternoon and suggested that she look at the expertdogtrainingsd.com website and consider using their services. They offer expert dog training for adult dogs as well as puppies, dog walking, and pet sitting in her area.
For many years I’ve been wanting to get a Shih-Tzu puppy. My wife says she would prefer a Pomeranian. We already have two dogs, one is about twelve years old, the other is two years old. The older dog is a large dog, the younger is a small dog. The younger dog is deaf, and we have talked from time to time about how at some point we will need to get another dog in the house to “help” the deaf dog to cope with life. One of the things that has prevented us from getting the new dog is the cost of buying a purebred dog, as well as the stalemate of what breed to get.
Well, I ran into a friend of mine two days ago and he tells me that his chihuahua dog is pregnant and he wants to GIVE me (for free) one of the puppies. What a dilemma! We are considering it, not sure yet if we really WANT one of those little critters! I mean they are REALLY little! And our HUGE cat might mistake the puppy for a mouse and eat it! Well, we’ve agreed not to be TOO worried about it at this point, the puppy hasn’t even been born yet, so we will bide our time and see what happens.
We spent hundreds of dollars on the pets last month at the vet. Shots, neutering, buying flea/tick/heartworm/mosquito medicines, the K-9 Advantix topical ointment and the Heartguard chewable tablets. We’ve been faithful about giving the dogs their medications, and the dogs are primarily indoor dogs. Yet every couple of days I seem to be finding ticks on the dogs anyway! I really don’t like finding ticks on the dogs, I have to pull them off, and pulling ticks off of a dog is nasty work. So I am not impressed with this K-9 Advantix claim to repel and kill ticks.
