My sister that lives in L.A. finally sent me the photo of her two year old daughter that was done at Christmas time at their local Walmart. I have never seen my niece, since she lives all the way across the country, although my sis does put a few pictures on her Facebook Wall every now and then, but they just aren’t the same quality that you get from a professional.

I swear this kid totally resembles Shirley Temple, all she needs is a few lollipops in the background since Shirley Temple was so well known for her On The Good Ship Lollipop song and dance. I’m going to suggest that next time she takes her in for the next photo shoot to see if they have a back drop of lollipops, that would be just too cool.

I hope my sis doesn’t freak out that I posted the wee one’s photo here on my blog for all the world to see and enjoy. I mean it isn’t like I’m putting her name, address or phone number out there, right?

As the development of the Internet continues to grow exponentially, so will the IT careers grow. When I was a teenager in high school, there was never any talk about personal computers or IT careers at all – the personal computer was still just a twinkle in some one’s brains! I can remember when the first personal computers came out, the storage devices were tape recorders!

Well, as they say, “you’ve come a long way baby” – IT careers are one of the hottest trends in the employment market. If someone were to ask me for advice on what field to enter when they are thinking about college degree choices, I would have to say either engineering or computers because the demand is going to keep being there for a very long time. Well, I’d probably also include medicine in the recommendation, but I think that the big money is going to be in computer technology. One of the greatest thing about working with computers is the ability to work from home a lot of the time. How great is that!? If telecommuting had been an option for me when I was a young man fresh out of school, you can bet I would have jumped at that opportunity!

Sometimes I have to shake my head in disbelief when I poke my head into the media room and see the kids playing their video games. One minute they are playing games like Mario Cart and the next minute they are playing games like plants vs zombies. I haven’t played a video game in a couple of years; I found that they were very addictive to me and I wanted to stay up all night to play the game.

That would not have been a problem except for the fact that I needed to be able to get up early in the morning and go to work! After all, I was the grown-up in the house that needed to bring in the money! One thing that I did learn, by playing the games, is that they truly are a lot of fun to play, and they truly can be addictive. Sometimes I find myself feeling concerned about how much time the kids spend playing the video games instead of being outside in the “real world.”

When I talk to my wife about my concerns, she tends to agree with me, but points out that there are worse addictions to be had. Of course, I have to agree with her about that. I just hope that they grow out of it at some point in time.

I never thought for one moment that a dyed in the wool pick up artist would end up having a son that was so shy that he did not know
how to ask a girl out. (My wife keeps telling me that she gets really tired of listening to me brag about all of the ladies that I had under my spell!) We are always going places where it would be so easy to go up to other people and introduce yourself and start a conversation, but our oldest son always hangs back. Sometimes I wonder if he will ever find someone to share his life with.

Our youngest son, however, is the exact opposite! He is the original extrovert! Put him in a room full of strangers and within five minutes everyone knows who he is, and he knows who they are, and they are all fast friends! Our oldest son will stand by and watch him work, envious of the ease in which he socializes. I really wish that he would gather up the courage to imitate the behavior a few times; after all, practice makes perfect.

I was perturbed when I saw my sister commenting on Facebook that her grandson keeps losing his eyeglasses at school so she has to run him down to the eye doctor’s and buy him new glasses. At about $150 a pair, that is not chump change! She has been doing this about twice a month for the past year, and every time she mentions it I remind her that it would be a good idea to get him a couple of spair pairs of glasses at zennioptical.com’s website.

I don’t remember exactly how I learned about the zenni optical website, but every now and then it seems that I read an article or blog about it, or hear about it a radio show, or even read about it in a newspaper article. But from what I understand, you can get a complete pair of eyeglasses for under $20, and that is a great bargain! I was looking at their website and saw that they have a lot of great looking frames, and a wide selection of frames for kids as well. All you have to do is pick out what pair you want, send in the prescription (along with the pupillary distance – you can get that from your eye doctor) and badda-bing-badda-boom you get new glasses for cheap! Spending $150 a pair a couple of times a month for kids glasses is just plain crazy, when you can get a great deal like that from zenni!
