My wife and I have been so shocked about the news of the young mother in New York who killed herself and three of her children by driving her mini-van into the Hudson River this week. She apparently meant to kill her 10 year old son as well, who managed to escape the van through a window.
What a terrible tragedy this is! One can only imagine her state of mind at the time. What upsets us both even more is that she would also take the lives of her innocent children. Can you even imagine the terror that her children felt? Even the thought of doing something like that turns my stomach. Most horrific, most sad.

I find myself watching the Comedy Channel more and more. A good laugh can make a big difference and I enjoy laughing. While the news is being blared out at us 24/7 on most of the other networks, I’m watching something that entertains me and won’t keep up at night with worry.

Well, going green was a different story yesterday at the White House. Michelle Obama thought it would be fun to have the water in the fountains on the lawns be dyed green in honor of St Patrick’s Day. I think that it is great to have someone in the White House that has a great imagination and sense of humor!

How is it that there have been so many recalls on products (such as Motrin) that I haven’t heard about them? And a lot of silent recalls on prescription drugs that no one hears about until they go to refill their prescription and are told that the product has been recalled and is no longer available? Wouldn’t you think that on prescriptions the doctors would have been given the recall notices and they would have immediately contacted their patients to tell them to stop taking them and given the patient an alternative prescription? What is up with that?

When we first moved to this area my wife had told me that she had read a newspaper article about how feral pigs are a problem in this county. I really thought she was joking! So far I haven’t actually seen any feral pigs around, but I was interested and surprised to turn on the television this morning and see a news story about how feral pigs are creating a lot of trouble for people in Florida! Part of the story included interviewing people who had property damage from the pigs and I tell you what, I would be really upset if I got up one morning and found my lawn completely ruined from a bunch of pigs rooting around for acorns! Note to self – don’t plant any oak trees in the yard!
