A good day to sit by the fire

Ever since my car accident, cold and wet weather has made me miserable. So, since it has been raining and snowing all day long today, it was a good day to sleep in my recliner chair beside the fireplace and nap off and on while enjoying our newly installed satellite television service. Everyone I know has been telling me that when there is bad weather we will suffer from bad television reception, but so far that hasn’t happened yet.

There seems to be little to enjoy at the movie theater these days. So much commercial hits for the mainstream. There has been little to stimulate the senses and open the mind to unusual perspectives the past few years.

I am looking forward to some of the independent films coming out however, certainly with all of this new and undiscovered talent there will be at least a few gems showing some unique angles of viewing things with a film crew that can capture you into the story with editing that makes you never lose focus.

Shirley Temple

After I finished the previous post about my niece looking so much like Shirley Temple, I just had to go on YouTube.com and find the video/song of Ms Temple singing On The Good Ship Lollipop, and it really freaked me out to see how much the two photos do look alike.

Rented the movie, Crazy Heart, last night and really liked it. I had read the book last year and if I recall, the ending is very different in the movie. I think the ending in the book was better and more likely to happen in real life. The movie ending was very “Hollywood.” I don’t want to spoil it for you if you haven’t seen it.

The hit song that came from the movie is called, “The Weary Kind,” by Ryan Bingham. That song is so haunting to me. I really like it and think I’ll try to pick up the soundtrack next time I find myself in Wal-Mart.

Redbox Adds Games

The Redbook DVD kiosks have been a huge hit in this area. There are lines to get movies from the Redbox at the McDonalds and the gas station every time I go there to rent or return a movie.

Now that all the Blockbusters and Hollywood Video stores have gone bankrupt and closed, I was wondering where kids would be able to rent games. The only place I know around here to get games is Wal-Mart and Target, and you have to buy them. I couldn’t think of a single place that rents games. Until today. The local Redbox now has games for rent. Booyah!
