Mail Issues – What To Do About It

It seems that at least once a week I get somebody else’s mail delivered to my mailbox. Being the good citizen that I am, I always put it back in the mail boxes so it can get delivered to the correct address. But I have to wonder if there is mail addressed to my house that is being delivered somewhere else in error and that just gets thrown away instead of being sent on. This is a frustrating thought. I wish the USPS was not having that kind of service issue!

I mean I have one of the types of mailboxes that clearly states my name and address on it, I keep it in good working order and we have had the same mail carrier for numerous years, so I just don’t get why all of these errors seem to keep happening here. I really don’t want to complain because I don’t know what our current carrier would do in retaliation for making a complaint. Our mail is very important and I would hate to even think what would happen if our carrier got all bent out of shape about the whole deal.

Good grief

Last night George and Elsie’s house next door was burglarized. The burglars did not actually go into the house, they broke into their garage in the back yard and stole a lot of tools that were stored in there. They also stole their copper rain chains right off of their house! That is a crying shame, that their chains rain were stolen; I’m guessing that the rain chain was stolen because of the copper value.

When a person can’t even go to bed at night without having thieves come up to the house and steal stuff from your storage shed and from your roof, it is a very sad situation. I wonder how many other houses in the area have been burglarized in this manner. Now maybe the neighbors will agree to starting up a neighborhood watch!

Shopping questions

Lucas invited me to go shopping with him next weekend to pick up Christmas presents for our family. He says he is on a mission to buy locally made products, trying to only buy things that are made in the USA. Well, we live in an area full of vineyards, and I know that my wife’s favorite wine is made and sold only a few miles from here. So I think that may just be one of the first places we head out to for our shopping expedition. My wife does not drink a lot of alcohol, but I am sure that is something she would appreciate having under the tree.

Those crazy kids

Sometimes I have to shake my head in disbelief when I poke my head into the media room and see the kids playing their video games. One minute they are playing games like Mario Cart and the next minute they are playing games like plants vs zombies. I haven’t played a video game in a couple of years; I found that they were very addictive to me and I wanted to stay up all night to play the game.

That would not have been a problem except for the fact that I needed to be able to get up early in the morning and go to work! After all, I was the grown-up in the house that needed to bring in the money! One thing that I did learn, by playing the games, is that they truly are a lot of fun to play, and they truly can be addictive. Sometimes I find myself feeling concerned about how much time the kids spend playing the video games instead of being outside in the “real world.”

When I talk to my wife about my concerns, she tends to agree with me, but points out that there are worse addictions to be had. Of course, I have to agree with her about that. I just hope that they grow out of it at some point in time.

Cooking at a flea market

I belong to an organization that goes anywhere and everywhere to make money, and one of the places is a flea market this year.  I volunteered to cook.  They readily accepted so this year I’m going to be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs at my first flea market.  I can’t believe it.  I love to cook and hopefully the food will turn out good and it will be a good day and a lot of people will show up.
