My wife shakes her head in bewilderment and bemusement (and sometimes quiet frustration) because almost every time we go somewhere that sells a lottery ticket or a scratch ticket or a raffle ticket I am right in line to buy some! She thinks that I am wasting our money, just throwing it away! Well, I think that I win enough money on the tickets to at least pay for my expenses of buying them, and I think it would just absolutely wonderful if we hit the big jackpot! I really like to plan how I would spend all of that money!

My dogs love this old used bathroom throw rug, but the backing is coming off of it and one of the dogs likes to play with the rug and move it around in a 6×8 area which causes a mess on the floor. I vacuum on a regular basis, but every time I look down it’s a mess. I told my wife the other day “why do we keep this rug?” She said “well, you know how much the dogs like that rug!” I said “yes, I do, but I am sick of cleaning up the same area every week over a rug that could be replaced for $5!”
The subject was dropped, the old rug remains today. I guess its one of the battles I’m not gonna win with the dogs and the wife! One of these days she’s going to come home and just find it gone! I hope she doesn’t read this!

My daughter has decided that instead of just buying an “in-stock” skateboard from a local store, that she wants to custom build her own skateboard through a company over the Internet. She was telling me that you go to the website, warehouseskateboards.com and order the individual parts of the skateboard that you want and they custom build it for you based on the parts that you order.
She says that you order a skateboard deck, a truck, wheels, bearings, hardware, and grip tape all separately. All of those things have multiple manufacturers to choose from! I did not know that you could do that, I thought you just went down to the local sporting goods store and bought a skateboard! I’ve learned a lot about skateboards from talking with my daughter!

Everywhere I go, I take my camera with me. My wife bought me a great 35mm camera several years ago, and I love it. But, I have to wait to get the photos developed, and I have started to feel the pressure of wanting instant gratification and get a digital camera. Our son has a digital camera, and we are always borrowing it to take pictures. We really like to be able to see the pictures right away, download them onto the computer and print off the good ones. No more waiting to get the pictures developed!
Since I’ve been laid up from a car accident I’ve been playing around a lot with our cameras and have become quite interested in pursuing a career in photography. The doctor says that I might not be able to go back to my old job, there will be restrictions on how much lifting I can do. I still have to work that out with my old boss.

Before we moved here, I had made a nice game room in our house in New England. When we found the house we wanted down here and moved one of the obstacles was sectioning off the basement so that I could have my own game room in this house. It will require wiring, partitioning off around the furnace and making an area big enough for my pool table, television and sofa. I also want to put in a bathroom, starting with a toilet and sink, and maybe putting in a shower later on.
There’s plenty of room so I’ll start by painting the floor and putting in a new suspended, soundproofed ceiling. I may also build a small mini-bar off to the side. We’ll also have a microwave oven there to pop popcorn. Some of my friends like a little toddy and snacks when they come over to watch the football games or Nascar races.
I may even put a slide in window in one wall so I can slide things in from one room to another. I have to have a space on one side to reroute all of my wiring and cabling. I’ve just started plans, so I have a long ways to go, but I’m sure that with a little bit of time it will all come together and work out just fine.
I want to pick out some crazy colors, maybe even paint a flag on one wall. It’s that or hang a flag up that my sister sent me from Iraq, I’m not sure which I’m going to do yet.
