Whenever my sister-in-law goes away for a day or so we end up going into her apartment and bringing her puppy upstairs to run around and play with our dogs. Her puppy is not very well house-broken, so before we go down to get him we try to puppy-proof the house as best we can. We use baby gates across as many doorways as we can to keep the puppy confined to just the kitchen and dining/living room. There is a doggie door that all of the dogs can use to access the back yard, and it is a riot to watch the three dogs chase each other around the dining room table like it is a racetrack, and then they all run out through the doggie door and into the back yard.
I remember when we moved down here I challenged my wife’s decision to bring the pressure mount gates with us from New England, but now I’m glad she did. Using them as pet gates has kept a lot of our house free from puppy pee!

Everywhere I go, I take my camera with me. My wife bought me a great 35mm camera several years ago, and I love it. But, I have to wait to get the photos developed, and I have started to feel the pressure of wanting instant gratification and get a digital camera. Our son has a digital camera, and we are always borrowing it to take pictures. We really like to be able to see the pictures right away, download them onto the computer and print off the good ones. No more waiting to get the pictures developed!
Since I’ve been laid up from a car accident I’ve been playing around a lot with our cameras and have become quite interested in pursuing a career in photography. The doctor says that I might not be able to go back to my old job, there will be restrictions on how much lifting I can do. I still have to work that out with my old boss.

Before we moved here, I had made a nice game room in our house in New England. When we found the house we wanted down here and moved one of the obstacles was sectioning off the basement so that I could have my own game room in this house. It will require wiring, partitioning off around the furnace and making an area big enough for my pool table, television and sofa. I also want to put in a bathroom, starting with a toilet and sink, and maybe putting in a shower later on.
There’s plenty of room so I’ll start by painting the floor and putting in a new suspended, soundproofed ceiling. I may also build a small mini-bar off to the side. We’ll also have a microwave oven there to pop popcorn. Some of my friends like a little toddy and snacks when they come over to watch the football games or Nascar races.
I may even put a slide in window in one wall so I can slide things in from one room to another. I have to have a space on one side to reroute all of my wiring and cabling. I’ve just started plans, so I have a long ways to go, but I’m sure that with a little bit of time it will all come together and work out just fine.
I want to pick out some crazy colors, maybe even paint a flag on one wall. It’s that or hang a flag up that my sister sent me from Iraq, I’m not sure which I’m going to do yet.

I’ve been looking for a new hat for over a year now. Last month my wife and I went to the Harley Davidson shop to see if they had anything I wanted. Lo and behold, I found what I wanted on the rack, first time around, we and purchased it. My wife says it is an early Christmas present, and that’s fine with me! It fits great, feels great, looks great. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on my hat since I purchased it. Since I ride a Harley, and enjoy Harley memorabilia, it seems to fit right in.

As we wait for the controversy over the needed trench to be dug from the electrical junction in the neighbor’s yard out to our new garage for the electricity feed, my wife and I have been discussing and planning our Garage Cabinets strategy. As much as I’d like to buy all brand new Arrow Spacemaker Storage Cabinets for the garage, I know that our finances are very limited right now, so getting creative with Garage Storage Cabinets is the name of the game for now.
We already have a few Steel Storage Cabinets that we brought with us from New England when we moved down here, and I have been using them in the attached garage. Since my wife has decided that she wants to convert the attached garage into a family recreation room, complete with pool table, I’ve agreed to move as much of my automotive related items into the new garage. We’ve also reached a conclusion that we are going to have to start calling these different spaces by different names. Even they are technically both garages, we are going to try to start calling the new one “the shop.” And once we get the pool table moved into the attached garage maybe we’ll start calling that the “billiard room.”
