There seems to be little to enjoy at the movie theater these days. So much commercial hits for the mainstream. There has been little to stimulate the senses and open the mind to unusual perspectives the past few years.
I am looking forward to some of the independent films coming out however, certainly with all of this new and undiscovered talent there will be at least a few gems showing some unique angles of viewing things with a film crew that can capture you into the story with editing that makes you never lose focus.
When we moved from Maine, I found that there was nowhere nearby to use my motor boat, so I sold it before we moved here. It was a 17′ inboard, and it ran well. I used it a lot.
After we moved down here, my brother-in-law offered to give me his jet ski because it was broken down and he didn’t have the time to fix it. So, we drove over to his house and picked it up and brought it home. The following week, after assessisng it, we found that it only needed a new battery and fuel pump. Since that time, I’ve found many places down here where we can take the jet ski to use it. So, we plan to use it frequently, and expect to have a lot of fun. A bonus for me was that after I went to work at my new job, a couple of my co-workers also have jet skis, so we plan to get together and do a lot of riding this summer.
I would imagine that a good profitable business to be involved in down in the grand old state of Texas would be a cleaning and restoration service, due to the amount of hurricanes and other extreme weather issues that go along with living where the climate is all about the massive amount of water in and surrounding such a large state.
My step-mother moved down to Texas years ago. I remember the first couple of years we were constantly watching the news and worried each time any extreme weather would hit anywhere around the part of Texas that she was now making her home. It was terrifying to think that she had moved somewhere that she really adored only for her to get hurt, or have her home destroyed or even worse lose her life. Many times we were not able to get through to her land line or her cell phone or through email attempts and we would become frantic calling each other and driving each other crazy with worry until one of us would hear from her. Some times it would take several days and it was agony.
She would always have some pretty amazing stories after things settled down about how people would band together to help each other board up their properties to prepare for these storms. I’ll never forget the first time she told me that the first thing that they would do was throw all the lawn chairs, pool accessories and other outdoor furniture into their pools to keep them from blowing away and possibly causing more damage in the process or even worse, hurt someone while flying around in the high winds. I thought that was a pretty cool idea, something that I never would have thought of, but it certainly makes sense if you think about it. Another good business for down that way would be a pool supplies company what with all of the pools that they have to enjoy almost all year round down that part of the country.
After I finished the previous post about my niece looking so much like Shirley Temple, I just had to go on YouTube.com and find the video/song of Ms Temple singing On The Good Ship Lollipop, and it really freaked me out to see how much the two photos do look alike.
My sister that lives in L.A. finally sent me the photo of her two year old daughter that was done at Christmas time at their local Walmart. I have never seen my niece, since she lives all the way across the country, although my sis does put a few pictures on her Facebook Wall every now and then, but they just aren’t the same quality that you get from a professional.
I swear this kid totally resembles Shirley Temple, all she needs is a few lollipops in the background since Shirley Temple was so well known for her On The Good Ship Lollipop song and dance. I’m going to suggest that next time she takes her in for the next photo shoot to see if they have a back drop of lollipops, that would be just too cool.
I hope my sis doesn’t freak out that I posted the wee one’s photo here on my blog for all the world to see and enjoy. I mean it isn’t like I’m putting her name, address or phone number out there, right?
