Dancing
Speaking of the Antarctica, I never did see the move Happy Feet! Maybe I’ll rent it from Netflix.
I’ve got the Rx for business, politics, technology, entertainment, and family life.

Usually I don’t watch animated children’s movies. But I had to wait at my sister’s house for a couple of hours and my nephew was watching “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” on DVD.
The movie is about a kid who invents a way to make it rain food. He tries his whole life to accomplish something and make his dad proud, he is a geek and his dad wants him to be a chip off the old block. His dad just can’t seem to do anything but mutter fish metaphors and gently try to discourage his son’s endeavors.
It was a very imaginative movie. The raining food idea was just the tip of the story line. If you have a chance to watch this and spend some quality time with a youngster, I heartily recommend it.
Now that’s what I’m talking about! Something I’ve always wanted to do!
I don’t get very much “good” mail these days, but each month I do look forward to finding in my mailbox my Reader’s Digest that arrives faithfully year after year. My mother got me started on this wonderful monthly publication when I first moved out on my own she started a subscription for me and kept renewing it each year. It’s offered at a great bargain and it’s just plain good quality reading.
This was a great story to read on Yahoo about a little girl born on the date of 8-9-10. The birth occurred at 11:12am. Too funny, right? What an easy birthday to have to remember each year. I was going to post the video about the special birthday girl but apparently there are copyright issues going on right now.
This was sent to me with the title of “Devastation from this morning’s Washington D.C. earthquake” Since I wasn’t aware of any earthquake it caught my attention and I had to open it up. Way too funny not to pass along here with you good folks. Laughter is the best medicine, as the old saying goes.

The word is that there are still Myrtle Beach vacation deals available for what is left of the summer season. A lot of school systems are starting school earlier and earlier which cuts out a good amount of vacation time for families. When I went to school, it always started the day after Labor Day, which of course is always in September. But I’m hearing from various friends and family members that most schools are opening in August. One friend’s kid started school yesterday, for goodness sake, it is only the first full week of August. The others that I’ve spoken with are starting August 22nd and the 23rd. I think that is so wrong, but nothing I can do about it at this point.
Anyway if I was to be planning a beach trip I’d being using the Internet to find the best Myrtle Beach hotel that might have accommodations still available. Being an avid golfer I’d certainly be looking for a place that could help with a good golf package to get my business, like what I found at http://www.grandeshores.com. They seem to have something for just about everyone at this resort. Too bad I’ve used up all of my vacation days for this year, the beach sounds great. It has been a long, hot summer this year. Can’t imagine what we are in store for this winter!
One of the best shows that the wife and I both enjoy watching together is America’s Got Talent. It is fun and interesting to watch all the different types of folks that are trying to break into the world of entertainment. There are a lot of good acts out there, I’d hate to be a judge on that show!
Have you ever had a bottle of beer or soda that you needed to use a bottle opener to open? And find out that you don’t HAVE a bottle opener? Check out this clever solution!
This morning I was listening to the music channel on television and the song Wooly Bully came on. Before I knew it my wife grabbed me up and we were dancing in the kitchen! Boy did that song take me back to my teenaged years!
Oh, for the good ol’ days!
Thanks for the article from Glenda Hanson
Vacation planned! Success. I love hughesnet internet. I’m finally using high speed internet orrs island now, as my previous land line provider was awful, and it is so nice to be able to get online and do what I need to do this easily. I was able to go on the web and score some cheap tickets to visit my family this summer just by trolling around various travel websites throughout the day and waiting for a sale (sorry boss).
Soooo much easier then when I used to have to call each airline individually. And since my mom wanted to get out of the city for a few days I read some travel reviews and hotel reviews and picked a cute B&B that’s a few hours away from her house for us to spend the weekend at. Not only that, but I’ve been searching for things to do in the area since then and I already have a mini list that I’m going to present to mom, and she can pick her favorites. Which hopefully will be my favorites – maybe I can guide her a little, lol. I’m counting down the days!
After I typed in the title of the previous post a song got stuck in my head and I just had to look it up on YouTube.com. It was never a popular song, I never heard it on the radio, but it was on a record album that my oldest brother used to listen to and I really liked it.
I’m glad that I found it on YouTube.com, it has been decades since I’ve heard or even thought of it. Check it out……..
I’m not all that much into Gospel music, but there is this one song that I heard back about 15 years ago that I really got into and I haven’t heard it since then. I was on YouTube.com last night and actually remembered the name of the song and found the video there, it was so cool to hear it after so many years. It’s called “Stomp” and it’s done by Kirk Franklin, enjoy……
What a wacky summer season we have gotten into. What with the economy still in such a mess and people looking for ways to save money and yet still have some sort of entertainment during the summer months and most of the beaches on the east coast overflowing with oil due to BP’s nonsense people aren’t sure what to do and where to go. It is possible now to find cheap flights if you know what you are doing and can use the Internet to the best of it’s ability to get the best deal possible. There are plenty of sites to find good travel information that can make the task of finding the perfect get-a-way much easier these days.
Since so many of the beaches are being destroyed by all of the oil mess, a lot of people are flocking to Myrtle Beach this summer. I’m sure that it is next to impossible to find accommodations anywhere near that place at this point, even if you could find good affordable airline tickets to get there. Myrtle Beach has been advertising like crazy these past couple of years in an attempt to get people to come spend their money there and all it took was an oil spill, go figure.
I come from a family of avid golfers. Every one in the family enjoys a good game of golf from time to time, it was a good quality sport for the whole family to enjoy together. We were started out pretty young, around the age of 3 or 4 depending on the kid and their comfort level and skills. To hear the words tee times would get the whole house in an uproar, the excitement was very contagious, and it still is to this day.
Even though the family have spread out a whole lot, all across the country, we still manage to get together now and then and enjoy a family game of golf. I found a great site www.48hourteetimes.com that allows you to book games at short notice and in various areas. Our favorite golf courses are in Myrtle Beach, the North Myrtle Beach area to be exact. You can’t ask for much more than what Myrtle Beach as to offer, something for everyone can be found there!
Sometimes the opportunity to get in a game comes up out of no where and if you don’t jump on it, it can leave as quickly as it came. So a site that helps you with 48 hour tee times would certainly be helpful, another example of how the Internet has made life so much easier.
Since I’ve been thinking about the Beatles this past week I decided to go onto YouTube.com and find some of their songs to listen to while I’m online. Penny Lane was one of my favorites, it was made right before they started getting into the hard drugs that took their music to a whole different level.
With the serious lack of rain that we have been dealing with this year, it is good to see that people are doing what they can to help conserve our precious rain waters. Rain barrels are coming back in a large variety of styles and prices, which I think is a great way to help out. We used to have several rain barrels in our back yard, back in the day, but they were the standard wooden ones, not much to look at, but they did the trick.
I was online last night and stumbled across a site that is selling rain chains. I really like the idea and looks of these rain chain items. They have a wide variety of these very affordable chains rain and their accessories. I have to tell you that I’ve never seen one before, maybe I am behind in the times, but I’d like to get the word out about this products and see more people investing in them. So if you could take the time to visit rainchainlink.com and see what they are all about and all that they have to offer I’d appreciate it. It can be easy being “green” no matter what Kermit The Frog says. LOL!
I heard on the radio the other day that Beatle Ringo just celebrated his 70th birthday. Hard to imagine the Beatles being that old. They also said that Paul make a surprise cameo appearence, now how cool is that. I would have liked to have seen and heard that one.
I never used to watch television other than the weather channel. I would get up early in the morning and put on the weather channel to see what the forecast was and then head out to work. I’d leave the house by 4:30 in the morning and wouldn’t get back until around 7:00 or 8:00 at night. I’d check the weather channel again, and then hit the sack. In between time I’d be busy plowing and sanding roads and driveways and parking lots in the wintertime, and doing groundskeeping in the summertime. I was even the town cemetery sexton for a few years and took care of the cemeteries, mowing the grounds and digging the graves.
So it really wasn’t until after my accident back in 2007 that I started to watch a lot of television. I really don’t like the fact that I can’t go out and do the things that I love to do, but the pain from my injuries prevents me from doing much of anything. If it wasn’t for all of the specials on television, I’d go absolutely insane! I’d love to upgrade our television service to get more of the cable specials, but my wife keeps telling me that we can’t afford the extra monthly rates for the premium channels. She’s working two jobs now, trying to pay the bills, and it is difficult for me to argue with her about what we can or cannot afford.
I do find it difficult not to envy my brother-in-law, who has satellite television and is always talking about how he divos the dish specials to watch later on. But my wife is right; money is just too tight now for those kinds of luxuries.
This last weekend I was happy to finally be able to burn the brush pile that I have been building for months. There has been a drought in the area, which resulted in a burning moratorium. We’ve had a few days of rain, and they lifted the moratorium, so I burned the pile and got her done.
I was truly in my element, out there, rake in hand, tending the fire. It burned high and quick. My wife was nervous about sparks setting the nearby woods on fire, or even our roof, but I had everything under control. She is such a worrier! It’s all good!
One of the things that I like about youtube is that I can always find something that will make me laugh! Take for example, these clips of funny (but banned) commercials! I think they are a riot!
There are several of my in-laws that I really enjoy hanging out with. My brother-in-law Will, for example, has a Harley. I have a Harley. We like to ride together. He’s a nice guy and would give the shirt off his back to help another family member. But by day, he is a self-employed IT specialist. He has several clients that pay him handsomely to take care of the details of the computer and Internet needs.
And because he is self-employed, he is always networking; trying to line up more clients. So there have been times when we’ve gone riding together and ended up meeting with potential clients. After a few minutes of listening to them talk about such things as dedicated server hosting, colocation services, and managed hosting solutions I usually wander off and try to find myself a place to grab a drink and take a short nap. I’m beginning to think that I should pack a bedroll and a good book onto the back of my bike! I don’t mind mixing a little bit of business with pleasure, but these are topics above and beyond my own needs and interests. But, it pays him a good salary, so I’m all for it!
I find myself watching the Comedy Channel more and more. A good laugh can make a big difference and I enjoy laughing. While the news is being blared out at us 24/7 on most of the other networks, I’m watching something that entertains me and won’t keep up at night with worry.
A dear friend sent me the link to this video, and I laughed so hard I almost cried! I’d like to share it with you, and dedicate it to my wife!
The wife is considering purchasing some Hartmann Luggage. She is tired of lending our luggage to our kids when they travel, and wants some to just keep for herself! And every time she lends some luggage to one of the kids, it is returned badly beat up. So it would be a nice change for her to have some new Luggage for her to use (and keep) when needed.
She has gone online and looked around to see what is out there these days and I have learned a lot about luggage, actually more than I’d ever need to know, these past couple of days. Personally I like the looks of the Briggs and Riley Luggage that we saw last night at Villageluggageandgifts.com. But it’s her choice and I know that she will find a good deal using her online shopping and bargaining skills.
I was just watching an episode of Criminal MInds. It was a re-run, but I like the show and don’t mind watching an occassional repeat. This episode featured Jason Alexander as the villain. He did he great job playing an insance villain! I sure do like that show! Of course, the good guys win – this time anyway!
Next Wednesday, which is March 17th is Saint Patrick’s Day. I remember back in school, it was a real big deal to make sure that you wore green, cause if you didn’t you were sure to get pinched all day long and that was a drag. Wish that they had hats like this one back in the day, that would have been cool.

After seeing the Jersy Boys gig on the David Letterman show I went online to see if I could afford to buy some Jersey Boys Tickets anytime in the near future. My wife was telling me that she’d love to go see them too, but thinks that I’m putting the cart before the horse in looking to buy any kind of entertainment tickets until all of my operations are finished.
I get discouraged sometimes because every now and then I’ll hear of a great deal on tickets to some entertainer that I’d like to see – like Wachovia Center Tickets
to go see Carol King perform. Every time my wife and I go on a long trip she brings along her Tapestry CD and we listen to that at least once. My wife sings along to all of the songs on that album!
And I’d love to get some Jeff Dunham Tickets and see him perform! Ventriloquism is something that I’ve always admired. I”m glad to see that it is coming back as a popular entertainment! A person really has to be talented to do a good job with ventriloquism! And Jeff is one of the best!
I have always loved Frankie Valle and the Four Seasons. I was really happy to see that there is a Broadway Musical out about their story! I found this clip on YouTube about the Musical – featured on the David Letterman Show. I didn’t know that these guys were associated with mobsters! I hope you enjoy it!
Today a big box arrived in the mail addressed to me. It was an assortment of goodies that my daughter had found up in my mother’s house, along with a birthday gift for me. A lot of the things were old brain-teaser puzzles. It was fun to pull them out and challenge my wife to see if she could figure out how to do them. One of them, called the Russian needle she did what I told her she had to accomplish, but she cheated. Of course she pointed out to me that I did not specify HOW I had to solve the puzzle, and she did accomplish the goal, so I guess she has a point there! Next time I’ll be more specific!
