My secret recipe for Marvelous Macaroni

My wife cooks a dish she calls “Western Mac” that she and I enjoy quite a bit.  Lately, though, I’ve decided that I want to get involved in some of the food preparation and decided to ask her for the recipe and tinker with it a little bit.  I don’t like onions at all, so usually whenever my wife finds a recipe she wants to try she leaves the onions out.  She complains that the food just doesn’t taste right without the onions, but that’s too bad.

Anyway, I decided to make my own macaroni dish and cooked some macaroni, drained it.  Then I added a pound of cooked low fat ground beef (crumbled) and added a can of crushed tomatoes, a can of tomato soup, and a can of tomato paste.  Mixed it all together and warmed it up, I think it came out yummy!  My wife likes it too, but she adds a little bit of catsup to hers.  So I’m quite pleased that I came up with a meal that my wife enjoys!

Will Wonders Ever Cease

I’ve never been a fan of eating at our local mall’s Food Court, but tonight I was so very hungry after doing a bit of shopping in the men’s store that I enjoy buying some of my clothing at, that I agreed to try some Japanese food that my wife suggested that we try. I figured that she had humored me for so long inside the store while I was trying on clothes that the least I could do was to go ahead and try some of the tempura she ordered for herself. At first I resisted, telling her that I hate trying new things, but eventually I relented.

To my total amazement, I thought it was delicious! I went up to the counter and ordered some for myself! Next time my wife suggests that I try a little taste of what she’s eating I won’t resist quire so much (maybe.)

Cereal cereal cereal

I have never seen so many types of cereal lined up on the shelf in my entire life!  I know there is a lot of cereal in the store when you walk down the aisles, but I never thought much about it.  Then I went to work in a grocery store (another story.)  One of my jobs was to stock the cereal aisle.  I never realized they categorize the cereal from baby to adolescent to adult!  From sugar to half sugar to no sugar!  From fiber to no fiber to half fiber to fruit and fiber!  It’s just crazy!  I think there are approximately eighty different kinds of cereal on the two rows that I stocked every week, and we sold it all!  I never did  put the same kind of cereal on the shelf every week and wondered how so many people can buy so many kinds of cereal!  It’s just crazy!

Birthday celebration

Unfortunately it rained all day on my birthday, which meant that I was laid up in bed in pain all day long. I really hate rainy days. My wife got me to come out of the bedroom long enough to open my birthday cards and some gifts, but I wasn’t in the mood to eat dinner or even cake and ice cream. If I’m not in the mood for ice cream, then I must really be in pain!

My wife was a real sweetheart and got me a Kindle for my birthday. She knew that it has been hurting my hands to have to hold books and turn the pages over the past several months, and she thought that using a Kindle to read it would be easier for me to turn pages. She was right, it does. I am very pleased with the Kindle. And I know my wife is going to be happy that I don’t keep adding more and more books to our already over-loaded bookcases! Personally I just think that she just wants more room for HER cookbooks!

Surf’s Up on the Internet

Author: Elias Massey

I love surfing the internet!  If I have a question about anything, I can find an answer on the internet.  I often wonder how the information, all information about any topic on the planet, gets there.  Ask the computer any question and you will get an answer.  It is almost spooky and kind of brings home the whole “big brother is watching you” theory.  Last week I thought I would look into another form of television viewing.  The www.expertsatellite.com site popped up and I visited it.  It was convenient and I got my questions answered.  Then I went to other sites to look at options for other utilities.  I learned a lot in that short period of time about how to connect, what plans are best for me, and even how to save electricity usage in my home.  All from the internet.  When I want to cook something new, I go to the internet and I find hundreds of recipes using my chosen ingredient.  I will predict that my grandchildren will not own cookbooks.  They will find any recipe they want on the internet.
