As the development of the Internet continues to grow exponentially, so will the IT careers grow. When I was a teenager in high school, there was never any talk about personal computers or IT careers at all – the personal computer was still just a twinkle in some one’s brains! I can remember when the first personal computers came out, the storage devices were tape recorders!

Well, as they say, “you’ve come a long way baby” – IT careers are one of the hottest trends in the employment market. If someone were to ask me for advice on what field to enter when they are thinking about college degree choices, I would have to say either engineering or computers because the demand is going to keep being there for a very long time. Well, I’d probably also include medicine in the recommendation, but I think that the big money is going to be in computer technology. One of the greatest thing about working with computers is the ability to work from home a lot of the time. How great is that!? If telecommuting had been an option for me when I was a young man fresh out of school, you can bet I would have jumped at that opportunity!

There have been a lot of telephone calls to our house lately where the caller ID shows the phone number of the caller, but not the name.  I really don’t like not knowing who has been calling the house, so I was hoping to find a free reverse phone lookup service on the Internet. I remember that service used to be free, but darned if I can find a free one now!

Last weekend our old Lexmark all-in-one printer died. By old, I really mean old – I think that we had that printer for at least eight years! Although I was sorry to see it break down, but we certainly got our money’s worth out of it! That was bad timing though because my wife had just bought several printer ink cartridges for it and they can’t be returned. Maybe I’ll suggest that she sell them on Ebay!

Other than that, we actually managed to get a good price on a new Lexmark all-in-one machine – we got a $400 machine with eight years of warranty for only $170! Just happened that we had several discount coupons and rewards checks to add to a half-price sale at Staples. On top of that they gave us a $50 trade-in credit for the old printer that had died. We ended up buying a new machine that has wireless capability (the old one didn’t have wireless capability) and automatic two-sided copying (which I think is awesome!)

Additionally, this printer claims to have the lowest black ink price in the world! How can you beat that?

Online Trading makes Stock Trading quick and easy. I can remember  when my wife and first decided to set up a couple of IRA Accounts decades ago and we had to set up an appointment with an agent and meet in his office to get the accounts set up. As the Internet continues to grow people and businesses find more ways to utilize it in more ways than most people can even imagine.

Many times my thoughts turn to the DisneyWorld attractions that reflect the imagination of the designers that in the 1960s and 1970s. Back when  these attractions were first designed the concepts behind them seemed to be so fantastical that I never believed that these developments would be accomplished during my lifetime. And yet most of the inventions portrayed have, in fact, come to pass.

Apparently the Yahoo email service is experiencing problems because I cannot get into my yahoo email account today no matter what I do. Monica tells me that she can’t get into her email either. I have reset the password about four times and now I’ve received a message that I cannot reset it any more until tomorrow. Along with that message is the notation that Yahoo is experiencing a high volume of problems so I’m going to hope that maybe it will work itself out by tomorrow.
