But you can’t take the country out of the man. All right, I admit I still live in the country, and I just wanted to say that. Every year when winter sets in and I have the time in between plowing and sanding I try to to re-evaluate all of our equipment and plan what equipment needs to be replaced soon, and whether to start looking for used tractors for sale or if we should be looking for a couple of gently used trucks for sale to be able to move the crew from one location to another.
Last fall I found a good deal on an overstocked backhoe for sale and I have been keeping that in the cemetery garage, waiting for the ground to thaw so we can use that for the spring burial rush. I was thinking about buying a used bull dozer as well last fall as I found a really good deal on one, but my wife told me that if I bought that with our money then I would need to get myself a new wife as well. The cemetery won’t agree to buy it this year, so I guess that will just have to go on the back burner since I don’t think I can afford to get that AND a new wife quite yet!

We have become such a transient people these days. People seem to come and go at such a fast rate that it makes it hard to establish a relationship with folks and keep it once they pack up and leave for any of the numerous reasons that people do leave. I understand that LA movers are doing a wonderful business since people are constantly heading out west with no end in sight of that concept coming to an end any time soon.
I have a buddy who made that cross country trip a few years ago and is know working for a very busy Los Angeles moving company and couldn’t be happier working as one of the many Los Angeles movers that help people with re locating their belongings anywhere that they are willing to pay for.
It’s funny that he ended up working for a moving company, since he was always the type of guy that when called on to help with a move always had an excuse to keep him away from such a task. It actually become a running joke around the circle of friends and family that were so knit tight back in those days and now the joke continues with the news of his new employment. LOL

When Josh asked us to help him move from his old apartment to his new one, he invited us to go out to dinner with him. Moving him only took one trip with the pick-up truck, and he only moved about one mile from his old place to his new place, so that was a pretty easy move. A lot easier than our move from New England to down here five years ago!
After we got the truck unloaded at his new place and his furniture set into place he gave us a tour of the new place. He’s sharing a house with four other young adults. They each have their own bedroom and bathroom and they share the kitchen, dining room, and living room. The house was an older brick house, probably built around the end of World War II, and is an interesting eclectic mix of new and old.
One of the more interesting features of the house was one of the bathrooms. The toilet and bathtub were obviously quite old, but the lavatory was a vessel sink. I think that this was the first time I’ve ever seen vessel sinks in such an old building. It was very nice, and the vessel sink faucets were very stylish as well. I wondered if that particular bathroom was in the process of being updated and the sink was the first step.

My sister-in-law called me last week and told me that the hinges on her Suburban’s driver side door were broken, and asked me if I could fix them. I went up to her house to check it out. I determined that we needed to buy new hinges, and I went and bought them and brought them back to my place. I told her that she needs to bring her car here to my place for me to work on it because I want to have all of my tools available if I need them. I never know with her vehicles what else I will find that is broken and needs to be fixed!

As we wait for the controversy over the needed trench to be dug from the electrical junction in the neighbor’s yard out to our new garage for the electricity feed, my wife and I have been discussing and planning our Garage Cabinets strategy. As much as I’d like to buy all brand new Arrow Spacemaker Storage Cabinets for the garage, I know that our finances are very limited right now, so getting creative with Garage Storage Cabinets is the name of the game for now.
We already have a few Steel Storage Cabinets that we brought with us from New England when we moved down here, and I have been using them in the attached garage. Since my wife has decided that she wants to convert the attached garage into a family recreation room, complete with pool table, I’ve agreed to move as much of my automotive related items into the new garage. We’ve also reached a conclusion that we are going to have to start calling these different spaces by different names. Even they are technically both garages, we are going to try to start calling the new one “the shop.” And once we get the pool table moved into the attached garage maybe we’ll start calling that the “billiard room.”
