One of the things that I’ve noticed around here is that quite a few of our neighbors have custom mailboxes at the end of their driveway. We live in a rural area, so I notice that a lot. Having
personalized mailboxes can make it easier to help people find your house when you live out in the country; you can tell the person who is looking for your place to look for the mailbox that has birds, or flowers, or lighthouses, etc painted on the side.
The bacova mailboxes website has a very nice variety of personalized mailboxes. To be perfectly honest, if I had to choose just one mailbox from their variety, I don’t know if I could pick just one favorite. They have birds, flowers, pets, boats, light houses, each one is beautiful. Their prices seem reasonable, as well.

Before we moved here, I had made a nice game room in our house in New England. When we found the house we wanted down here and moved one of the obstacles was sectioning off the basement so that I could have my own game room in this house. It will require wiring, partitioning off around the furnace and making an area big enough for my pool table, television and sofa. I also want to put in a bathroom, starting with a toilet and sink, and maybe putting in a shower later on.
There’s plenty of room so I’ll start by painting the floor and putting in a new suspended, soundproofed ceiling. I may also build a small mini-bar off to the side. We’ll also have a microwave oven there to pop popcorn. Some of my friends like a little toddy and snacks when they come over to watch the football games or Nascar races.
I may even put a slide in window in one wall so I can slide things in from one room to another. I have to have a space on one side to reroute all of my wiring and cabling. I’ve just started plans, so I have a long ways to go, but I’m sure that with a little bit of time it will all come together and work out just fine.
I want to pick out some crazy colors, maybe even paint a flag on one wall. It’s that or hang a flag up that my sister sent me from Iraq, I’m not sure which I’m going to do yet.

When my sister-in-law moved into our spare bedroom, we had a digital clock on the bedside table for her to be able to use. She told us that she had one just like it, but it was packed away in the storage trailer, so we told her that she could go ahead and just use the one in the bedroom. At least that way we would not have to worry about where to store that one.
Well, when she moved from the spare bedroom into the downstairs apartment that we built for her she took that clock with her. My wife asked her for it back, because we wanted to have a clock in that room for company. Of course by now her sister does not remember that the clock belonged to us in the first place and says it was hers. To keep peace in the family my wife went to the local department store and bought a LED clock that happened to be on sale for $5 and put that in the room. It’s not as nice as the one that used to be in there, but money is tight and at least now there is a clock in there for company to be able to see what time it is and set an alarm if they need to. One thing that I think is cool about this new clock is the fact that you can set the time and the alarm with your voice!

Being in the landscape business several years ago, I used to buy a lot of equipment. One of the most awesome pieces of equipment that I ever bought was a small compact John Deere tractor with a 6 1/2′ backhoe. It is also four wheel drive. It can go anywhere. I always tried to figure out how to pay for stuff, and to help this pay for itself, I put it to work in the local cemetery, digging graves.
I also bought a 6′ mower for mowing large lawns and a York rake for smoothing out new lawns and driveways. It was really great because in the winter time I could use it to load sand into our sand trucks. When I sold my business and moved south, this is one of the items that I kept and brought with us to our new house.
I’ve never dug out so many baby stumps in my entire life since I moved down here! It is extremely handy to have. I even used it twice last year to plow snow from our driveway. (Something my wife swore we would not EVER have to do!)
One of the things that my wife is always commenting on is how interesting it is that everywhere we go I seem to attract women to myself. When I try to explain that I’ve just had “the gift” since birth she just rolls her eyes and shakes her head. She knows that I’m perfectly harmless and would not ever dream of violating our marriage vows. But I will admit that it is fun to let the ladies flirt with me. Seems as if they are throwing themselves at me all of the time.
My wife tells me that the women are simply doing what most women do, which is to flirt with every man in the world. She doesn’t call them “hussies” or anything nasty, she finds it amusing. She explains that the women flirt with all of the men because they want to be lusted after. If a man lusts after a woman, he is more likely to treat her nice. An by nice I mean buy her things and do favors for her, like repairing something that is broken. Do you think that is true? To be honest I really can’t say that I see it that way. Are men really that egotistical and blind? Are women really that conniving?
