Dr Copa

Most dogs like water.  I’ve got two that are cowards when it comes to water.  If I open the door to let my dog out in the morning and the deck just has moisture on it, they turn around and come right back in!  I think they have learned to have major holding capacity because they don’t go in the house, and they will wait for hours to wait for it to be dry before they will go outside.  Yet, I see tons of dogs walking outside in the rain, swimming in the lake; not mine!  I’m thinking about buying them rain coats and boots!

I was surprised when I walked into my wife’s studio and saw her looking on the Internet at some London Apartments. She’s mentioned several times that she would love to visit London sometime because she has a lot of relatives there, but I never thought that she seriously thought we would be able to go anytime soon. I asked her “is there something you want to tell me?” and she laughed. “Just dreaming” she said.

But I noticed before she left that web page that she bookmarked it as a favorite to go back to at a future date. The waiting around for the insurance law suit to come to an end has certainly taken a toll on our life, caused no end of financial hardship in addition to the physical pain of the injuries caused. But it is nice to know that my wife still has a hopeful attitude of a reward waiting at the end of the tunnel. Maybe, just maybe we’ll be going to stay in those dream London Apartments before we get too old to travel overseas!

A couple of years ago my wife bought one of those Shark steamer cleaners to use to clean the kitchen floor. When it first arrived I was skeptical about how well it would work and I am ashamed to admit that I told her that I thought that she had been ripped off. But when I saw what a good job it actually did I was impressed and told her that it was a great investment.

Well, much to my dismay the steamer is not steaming any more. My wife suggested that maybe the vents were clogged with minerals and to try soaking it in vinegar. I hope it isn’t broken, I don’t want to have to buy a new one, and that cleaner was a champion!

Ever since my accident, I have had a lot of pain associated with the bad weather. If it is going to be cold, or damp, or rainy, I am in a lot of pain. My wife and I talk about how we should think about relocating to someplace warm and dry, like Arizona. My wife says she would prefer to move someplace overseas where the American dollar goes further. That’s something to think about, for sure. I’m not sure what country that would be that is not in some kind of violent political turmoil, though.

The cost of international moving would scare me to pieces, too! I can remember how expensive it was to move here six years ago, and we just hired a self-moving truck and did it all ourselves! The expense and the stress triggered my diabetes! Can you even imagine that stress would trigger diabetes? I don’t even know what companies provide
overseas moving services other than my wife’s parents, who had a customer bring in her entire household contents, box by box and had the boxes shipped one at a time. They told me that they make a lot of their money through international shipping services. We’ll probably never have that kind of wealth to even worry about relocating again, but sometimes we talk about it in the context of coming into a great windfall through the personal injury lawsuit we’ve got in the works. One can dream, can’t one?

Every year since we moved down here, the family gatherings that we have gone to have been full of familial strife and arguing and hurt feelings. So it was with much dread that I woke up this morning, preparing for yet another day of dysfunctional family theatrics. Muct to my great surprise, though, my wife pulled off a really great dinner where no one got angry or hurt. When every one had finally left the house my wife proclaimed that the day was a miracle!

The food was great, the people had fun, everyone helped with the cooking and the cleaning. It was a good day.
