My parent’s generation would have big homes and thought it was important to have at least one extra room in the house to be used as a guest room. The spare room would often be used to store extra household items, such as bookshelves loaded with books and old encyclopedias, or extra closet space for off season clothing. If a family member or close friend was coming for a visit, we always invited them to stay the night in our guest room rather than having to pay for a motel room.
But my generation does not have that luxury and when friends or family come visit from out of town, I use the internet’s version of local yellowpages to find a hotel or motel nearby.
Finding something close to the house is the best part of using local search rather just searching for a popular term, like motels. Instead of having to sort through hundreds of links and listings from regular search, I can use the name of my town or my destination city and get just results targeted for that specific area.
Although I work in town and pass several hotels on the way home each night, when I have a need or interest in a local motel I don’t have all the contact information at hand. That is why I rely on local search for motels in Culpeper and the list of motels that comes up includes telephone numbers, street addresses and even maps to the property.

I now have to admit that I have gained too much weight this winter. My belt does not have enough notches in it to fit around my waist. I am sure that my cravings for comfort food and lots of breads are contributing to this weight gain. I feel like a huge Dough Boy today.

While waiting to get my hair cut the other day, I was leafing through a magazine that I normally never have the chance to read. It was a magazine dedicated to gourmet food and fine wines. That has motivated me to upgrade our kitchen and set it up for more gourmet food preparation. The enclume pot racks are a good place to start.
The right enclume pot rack can make a huge difference in accessing the pots and pans used for daily food prep. Why would anyone want to dig through dark cabinets for the right pot, when they can just reach up and lift it off the hook in front of them?
There are a variety of enclume potracks available. Some have shelves, some mount on the wall and some hand over a kitchen work island. I found the right one for what I need after surfing the web site in just a minute or two.

I was so upset about the cost of ink for my wife’s Lexmark printer that I decided to talk to a few of my tekkie friends so see what is going on with printers and the price of ink. They have told me before and told me again this time, that the price of a printer is not the primary consideration for buying one. The print qulaity that you desire and the cost of operating it including the cost of the ink are what is most important.
My brother in law has suggested that I buy a new Kodak brand printer. The printer does a great job and uses technology in a different way so that you use much less ink. Plus the ink refills are much less expensive than other brands. I think I should take his advice this time and look into getting a new Kodak printer for our general household and home office use.

A couple of weeks ago I promised my wife that I would buy her a couple of new inkjet cartridges to reimburse her for all of the printer ink that she used by printing off the thousand raffle tickets for the lodge. I figured that she was good natured enough to do the work for me, the least the lodge could do is to reimburse her for the ink that she used.
Besides, I thought that was cheap ink that she used in her Lexmark printer. So when she sent me to the store yesterday to buy her the new ink cartridges I was shocked to discover that Wal-Mart does not sell it anymore, and Staples charges an arm and a leg for it! It never USED to cost that much! I went on line to the manufacturer’s website to order it, and it was even more than Staples! I think that maybe next time I’ll think twice about asking my wife to use her printer for the lodge’s business!
