After Christmas Savings Online

Gift cards seemed to be the big hit this year for Christmas. I can’t help but notice how they are getting more popular as the years pass. They are a great gift option indeed. I received several myself this years from friends, co workers and family members so I’ll be able to spend a few hours on the computer checking out the after Christmas sales that are being offered the many online shoppers like myself.

There are numerous sites that you can get coupons, codes, and all kinds of extra savings. Of course I’m all about choosing Free Shipping offers which is a major savings these days. I’m curious to see if I can find some lands end coupons since I received a $75 gift card for one of my gifts from my parents. My mother knows that I always enjoy clothes from Lands End so $75 will buy me a few goodies if I play my cards right and find the best deal possible by using the good old Internet to my advantage. I don’t even have to leave the house.

Things are about to get busy. It’s Christmas eve and there are plenty of last minute things to keep the whole house just a buzzing. The excitement is growing and everyone is in a cheerful mood. Wish that Christmas spirit would and could last so much longer.

Happy Holidays To You and Yours!

Not too small

When Ken first became a stock broker, he convinced my wife and I to invest a little bit of money with him. We had always been interested, but timid when it came to getting involved in Stock Trading. So we were perfectly happy with having Ken take care of that for us. But a few years later his company decided to dump all of us “small time” investors and just sent us our stocks!

That’s rather insulting, you know! Being dumped like that because we are “small time investors!” After all, THEY came to US! So it wasn’t long after that happened that we found an Online Broker and started using their Online Trading services. I like the fact that we can buy and/or sell our “small time” investments quickly and not have to wait until the end of the day to know how much it ended up costing us! So, all in all, being dumped by Ken’s company, although insulting, was in the end a good thing for us.

Models

One of my hobbies is building models of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and helicopters.

I really love Chevrolet, but for some reason, on my birthdays and Christmas, over the past few years, when I ask for a model, I wound up with a 1930′s series Ford kit!  I have, at this time, a ’32 Ford Vicky, ’34 Ford pickup, two ’34 Ford coupes, a ’44 Ford coupe, and a ’44 Ford sedan delivery.   I also have a ’63 Ford Mustang II fastback and a ’37 Chevy cabrolet.  (That Chevy was a surprise – somebody listened!)

I have lots of other models; too, including tractor trailers, drag trucks, and cars, helicopters, and a few choppers.

A man ahead of his time

My wife was telling me that one of the very first jobs she had as a youngster was helping her step-father with his retargeting advertising efforts.  Knowing that was back in the 60′s, I had to ask her what exactly did she mean by retargeting?  She explained that her father maintained a list of his customer’s addresses and the dates of their special occasions, such as birthdays and anniversaries.  Then he would make sure that a few weeks before that date every year someone in the office would send out an appropriate greeting card from his company, with a flyer that had a special offer in it for that customer.

The results of his efforts were enourmous.  His customers were very loyal for as long as he owned his business.  And he retired a very wealthy man.  So this new advertising method that the new retargeting companies are promoting is not all that new at all – just good old common business sense!  And it really works!
