Sharing the Flowers
My neighbor, Lindsay, has a lot of landscaping around her house and property.Although she has a lot of trees, she has found a lot of plants that thrive in the shade. I have the opposite conditions – I need flowers and plants that like full and partial sun.
While dead heading my geraniums, Lindsay came over with some cuttings from her hostas. That was nice of her to share, but I’m not sure where I’m going to be able to plant them. I might have to put them in window boxes along the back side of the house. That is the only side of the house and yard that has enough shade for the hostas.
I’ve never tried hostas in a window box and I’m not sure they will get enough water that way. In my experience with garden window boxes, you need to water them more often than plants and flowers that are in the ground. It’s worth a try – maybe the shade will help keep them moist enough to flourish.
