A Glass Tile Online Store

It is interesting that Tiles are coming back in fashion as of late. I ran across a great site that sells a great variety of Tiles and a decent prices to boot. They offer free shipping and take Pay Pal, which is a plus for people like me that use Pay Pal frequently. Companies are targeting online shoppers and free shipping is a good way to get consumers to order their products online. Using the Internet has made the task of shopping so much easier and more people are turning to the World Wide Web all year round, not just during the holiday seasons in their effort to keep away from the crowds and all that goes along with that yearly mess!

It’s amazing the variety of Tiles that are available these days. I really enjoy their selection of Subway tiles and their Brick Glass Mosaics and would encourage anyone to give glasstilestore.com a look see if you are in the market for the latest in Tiles. They aren’t just for kitchens and bathrooms anymore.

Chewed Up Slippers

Over the weekend a friend stopped by for a visit and brought along his new black lab, who is still just a puppy and loves to chew. Even though he brought with him several chew toys the little bugger still managed to find my favorite slippers and chewed them up pretty bad. I didn’t find this out until after they had left and I don’t intend on telling him about it. He has enough on his plate as it is. But now I need to find a new pair of house slippers and soon.

Creating an effective neighborhood watch

Filed under: General Living — Copa @ 6:44 pm

Thanks to Jami Bradish for the guest post.

A few years ago, roving bands of teenagers smashed some car windows and caused some other property damage with graffiti and other mischief. The police department in our town is understaffed and overworked and could not be relied on to increase patrols. The neighborhood association decided to form our own watch program and it has really helped.

We had enough men and women to volunteer one night a month each to patrol on foot and in vehicles around the neighborhood. We also posted signs alerting the public that a neighborhood watch program was in effect. Other volunteers visited houses and helped install outdoor motion lights and new porch and yard lights. Many people increased their sense of security by installing a New Mexico security alarm systems.

Early on, we did have a few volunteers miss patrols. This hurts the whole program. Since then, we have created new backup call lists and use text messages and even facebook alerts to plan, schedule and report any suspicious activity to everyone in the neighborhood.

An effective neighborhood watch doesn’t have to be expensive. Some new lights, trimming bushes and just being alert to who is in the neighborhood can go a long way to cutting down on crime. Property crimes have dropped drastically in our neighborhood and some volunteers are even working to spread the program to other nearby areas

The Elks

Filed under: General Living — Copa @ 6:39 pm

A good friend of mine has asked me to join the local Elks Lodge in town. They are looking for new members big time. I am entertaining the idea, they are a good organization that does a lot of good for the community. They try and help the Veterans and children, which are both good causes that I can get in to.

I’d like to attend one of their meetings before making a decision, their next meeting is scheduled for July 14th and I have nothing on my calender for that evening. So I’ve penciled it in and we will see where it leads.
