Why do vets charge so much?
My wife made an appointment to have me take one of our dogs to the vet for her rabies shot. It seems that we needed a new one in order to get her county dog tag. So I went ahead and took the dog to the vet. The shot itself was only about $20, but they charged me over $50 for a “wellness check” that we never asked for!
Now that might be legal, but I think it is totally unethical to charge $50 for a “wellness check” that we didn’t ask for! I think that before they started checking her over they should have asked me if I wanted that done and advised that there would be a $50 charge for it! I feel totally ripped off!
Now I find out that I could have taken her to Petco to one of their shot clinics and had the shot done for only $18 and no “wellness check” fee. I don’t think it takes a genius to figure out where the next rabies shot will be coming from, do you?
