Ouch!

Last week I was driving our Subaru and all of a sudden the exhaust started making a gawd-awful racket!  I took it into the local Midas shop and they gave me an estimate of $150 to fix it.  Well, money is tight and we weren’t too happy about having to shell out any money on car repairs, but it needed to be done.  So we made the appointment for the work to be done today.

Well, once they got into the thing, it needed more work than originally thought (I hate when that happens.)  They put the car up on the lift and showed me the problems.  Yes, they were right, more needed to be done than originally thought.  To the tune of $700!

And yes, I had it done, and put on the credit card.  My wife was NOT very happy about that news at all!  We are still waiting to hear from SSI about getting money from my disability and having a $700 car repair bill has taken all of the hope out of buying Christmas gifts this year!

Sunny and warm

The recent snowstorm and cold snap have certainly sparked my desires to go to one of the nice warm Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Resorts for a few weeks.  Although I’ve never been to any of the Myrtle Beach Resorts yet, I’ve been tempted by the many accolades that I hear from my friends and relatives from their vacations.

They love to send postcards from their Beach Resorts Myrtle Beach telling us how much fun they are having playing golf, going to shows or amusement parks, or just relaxing on the beach.  And they rave about the luxurious accommodations that they are enjoying.  I can certainly appreciate how hard it would be to leave such a place!  We’ve heard so many good things about vacationing there that my wife and I are putting it on the top of our list of vacation spots we want to try out when my injuries are better healed and I can spend more time enjoying life without having to spend so much of it sitting down.

Roads flooded

School was closed today because of flooded roads. It’s always a surprise to me when that happens; it happens a lot more frequently than I would have imagined. Growing up in New England, I’m relatively used to rivers flooding in the spring but that never closed the schools down. It just seems like the schools around here close a lot more often than I would imagine they should close. Seems to me that if the roads are flooded frequently that the department of transportation should do something to raise the road beds so that they don’t flood very often!
