Mary tells me that my cousin Ray is going to be buying some Houston Rodeo tickets for his family’s vacation Next March. They want to get Action seats tickets and stay for the concert after the rodeo to see Brad Paisley perform. Ray and his wife have been fans of Brad Paisley for a long time and have never seen him in concert before. And they both love going to see rodeos, so this is a perfect situation for them!
Ray has already arranged to get the time off of work, and is looking into getting the best deal on a place to stay down there. We have some relatives in the area, so he might even be able to work out a free place to stay.
Action seats tickets to the rodeo are the tickets to the best seats “in the house.” They are right up in the front rows alongside the rodeo ring so you can see all of the great rodeo action up close! And the seats come with free food and beverage to boot!
I have to admit that it sure sounds like a lot of fun! I’ve always enjoyed watching a rodeo, and the Houston Rodeo is certainly one of the best ones you could ask for!
A friend of mine told me that his female chihuahua is expecting a litter of puppies, and he wants me to have one of the puppies. He said I could have one for free! He said that they are pure bred puppies. I don’t know how much money chihuahua puppies cost around here, but I am under the impression that just about any pure bred puppy is expensive to buy. I didn’t know much about chihuahua dogs, so I wanted to get some pet information on the breed before discussing it with my wife. After all, it is a good idea to be well informed on a subject before bringing the subject with my wife – she has a tendency to be quite knowledgeable about just about everything!
I have been troubled by how many phone calls we get from companies that are trying to sell us their services to get our mortgage modified. I really get the feeling that they aren’t trying to help us at all, and that some of them might even be spam! At this point, we are thinking that we should use a lawyer from the American Residential Law Group to help us if we decide that we need our loan modified.
This group is a group of lawyers that were showcased on several television shows as being experienced and excellent consumer advocate lawyers that will help with a lot of different types of consumer legal issues, including bankruptcy, debt settlement, foreclosure, etc.
I love cookies. I try to avoid them whenever possible, but this time of year it is impossible to do that. People are always offering me cookies! It’s hard to tell what cookie is my favorite. Sometimes I think that its chocolate chip cookies; sometimes I think it is sugar cookies. Sometimes I think it is butter cookies! Oh, there are just too many good cookies out there to decide!
I had some coupons to buy some Pillsbury cookie dough just burning a hole in my pocket today, so I bought a large roll of chocolate chip cookie dough and a small roll of sugar cookie dough. I had never seen the large roll of cookies before! I wonder if they are only making the large size for the holidays?! I’ve tried the store brand of cookie dough before, and it was good, but just not AS good as the Pillsbury brand. I wonder why that is – usually the store brand of food is as good as the name brand! Often it’s made by the same factory with the same recipe and ingredients, just different packaging!
Anyway, I hope I have the time to bake some of them this week! It would be nice to have some freshly baked cookies around the house!
I’ve been talking to my wife a lot lately about putting some Covert Cameras around the property. I’ve been getting a little bit nervous about the rising crime rate lately. I’m sure that it is directly related to the sad state of the economy; more people are losing their jobs every day around here! And there are not very many job openings locally for these folks to be able to just start work right away.
I found a great website (www.spycameracctv.com/) that sells equipment such as the CCTV Camera and Wireless CCTV that I think I’d like to get to put around the house. There is a system that they sell that is designed for home security that fits the bill perfectly. The camera is about the size of a tennis ball, so it is not quite as visible as the big commercial cameras. I was looking around the website earlier today and was quite impressed with the selection of day and night outdoor cameras that they sell. Of course they also sell the cables and connectors needed to hook up the system. Now I just have to figure out how many cameras I really want for our place!
Not very long ago I wanted to grill some steaks on the gas grill outside. We had everything ready to go, all of the sides and the table set. I went out to turn on the gas to the grill and was quite upset to discover that the tank was empty! I don’t like using the broiler in the house, or pan-frying steak, so we ended up not having steak that night.
Well my wife decided that we need a back-up plan for the next time that happens. We used to have a George Forman grill but my wife didn’t like it – she said it was too difficult to clean. And even though it was the largest Forman grill on the market at the time, we could only fit one steak on it! So we ended up giving that grill away and simply did without. This time, however, she got online and found a large grill made by Hamilton Beach that has removable grids that can get put in the dishwasher. I’ll be interested to see it when it arrives and give it a try. I hope we like it!
A few years ago my son forbade me from using the term “bling bling.” He said it just didn’t sound right coming out of an “old guy.” I think I just might buy some of the hip-hop jewelry that’s on clearance on the hiphopbling.com website and wear it the next time that he’s visiting! I can just imagine the expression on his face when he sees me wearing it!
With all of the news in the media about the flu, and the large outbreaks of people being sick – so sick that the doctors are overwhelmed and just telling people to “self-isolate” just “in case” I have to say that I am concerned that the people who really need medical attention might not be getting it. As of this writing, we have at least three family members who are sick with “flu-like symptoms” that have simply been told to “just stay home.” I wonder if what they have is, in fact, the H1N1 flu, or something else. Am I correct in thinking that if they HAVE the H1N1 once that they cannot get it again? I think so. But without a “real diagnosis” of whether they have it or not, when the vaccine comes out, how do we know if it is a wasted effort to get vaccinated against it?
Isn’t technology wonderful when it works? And it’s absolutely hateful when it doesn’t work the way it is supposed to! I’ve been around long enough to know that computer glitches are the work of the technology demons that hover over and around everyone who uses the computer. At any moment the blue screen of death could appear! In the not too distant past, even minor computer glitches could paralyze an office for a day or two; waiting for the “computer guy” to show up to fix the problem, or even worse the computer would have to be taken to an off-premise site for a week or more. Ahhhh….. those were the “bad ol’ days!” of the pioneering days of the personal computer.
In the modern day, remote desktop software can be, and often is, the answer to many of the problems that can arise in an office full of computers. This secure software enables a user to be in one location and access the computers in a different location to trouble-shoot and hopefully repair what is wrong with the troubled computer. So if the problem with the computer is not something as drastic as the motherboard frying, the quick-fix is a real possibility with this type of technology.
Lately my wife has been making a lot of fresh bread with a bread machine that she bought for $3 at a thrift store. She wasn’t sure at first if it would work or not because she had bought one several months ago that didn’t work, but she thought she’d give this one a try…. A leap of faith!
Well, it works – and boy does it work well! This makes up to 1 1/2 pound loaves, and so far she has tried about four different recipes. They have all been delicious! And the smell of the bread baking in the house drives me crazy! There is nothing finer than a warm slice of fresh baked bread. In this economy, such a simple pleasure makes life a little bit easier to take!
I haven’t posted lately because I’ve been busy helping my wife around the house a lot. She’s been working a lot lately and isn’t feeling well, so she has asked me to take over most of the household chores. I never realized how much is involved in running the house!
