Cosmetic dentistry

My nephew Gary tells me that he has decided to have some cosmetic dentistry done.  He has a gap between his two front teeth that has bothered him for many years.  His parents couldn’t afford to pay for braces when he was younger, so he has gone through most of his life very self-conscious about his smile.  You never see him in photographs smiling with his teeth showing.  It’s really too bad because he has a nice smile!

Gary says that his dentist told him that he could use dental veneers instead of braces to make that gap disappear!  Well Gary had never heard of veneers, and to be honest neither have I!  Gary says that his dentist explained that these are thing porcelain veneers that are permanent, safe, and painlessly attached to his teeth to make his teeth look perfect.  I think that is a great idea, and I hope he goes through with it!

Had to laugh

We got a snowstorm that started yesterday, snowed all night and into today. The snow stopped around 2pm here. It ended up being only about two inches of snow. Having lived in Maine for 29 years and being used to this kind of weather, my wife went to work as usual. She said it took her about fifteen minutes longer than usual because the roads were slick and slushy. When she arrived, everyone at work was shocked to see her because they thought since we lived 30 miles away that she wouldn’t show up! She laughed at them and asked “Why wouldn’t I come to work? It’s just a little bit of snow!” But she did tell me that there were a LOT of cars that had slid off of the road on the way to work; it is quite obvious that people around here just do not know how to drive in this kind of weather!
