Jersey shores

My wife is constantly talking about arranging a family Jersey Shore beach vacation during the summer. She says that her girlfriend Kathy told her that there are a lot of fun things to do in New Jersey. Kathy said that her favorite activities include going to the water parks at Morey’s Piers.  Kathy told us that there are often great celebrity concerts, performances and other fun things to do at the Piers; not just water parks.

Kathy sent us a website link to Morey’s Piers, telling us that this is where we should go to find hotels in the Wildwood area. She also told us that Morey’s Piers is having their annual sale on tickets until January 9.

So my wife is spending some time on the phone calling her sisters and brothers and seeing if they want to try to arrange a big family reunion/vacation by going up there this summer.  Summer would be the best time to go for us because she has a lot of vacation time then, and it’s nice to go up north to try to beat some of the heat and humidity of this place.  I told her to not forget calling our son up in Princeton and see if he wants to go too!

I should have bet money on it

This morning my wife and I were preparing to run some shopping errands. One of them was to one of those large box home-improvement indoor lumber yard chain stores. We had gotten a coupon in the mail from them recently for $10 off any $25 purchase, and I wanted to buy a shelf to put in our bedroom. Well, my wife had been after me for about three weeks to go to the store and use the coupon, and today was the day. So I told my wife to dig out the coupon. She told me that she was sure it had expired on Dec 31,2008, and wasn’t sure where it was. Well, I told her to dig it out anyway, that I could probably talk them into honoring it.

She didn’t believe me, but she dug it out and dutifully brought it along. We did our shopping and when we went to the check-out counter my wife handed me the coupon. The cashier saw it had expired and told me that she could not accept it. I asked her if there was any way she could arrange to honor it and she said no. I asked her if she could get the manager to honor it and she said no. I asked her to please get the manager. The manager honored it! When we left the store my wife said “I would never have believed it if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes!” Yup – I’m the man!  I should have bet my wife money on it – I would’ve won!
