When my wife and I moved from New England to our present location here in the Mid-Atlantic, we were faced with a lot of issues. Money was tight; we could not afford to use a moving company. We had several months in which we could move, so that was a good thing, we weren’t in a huge hurry. I wanted to come down to the house and do some things to prepare it for my wife to come down. So every few weeks we would rent one of those self-moving vans and fill it with stuff and bring it down, unload it, leave it here and rent a car to drive home. One of my biggest concerns was how I was going to be able to bring my big landscaping equipment down here. I ended up making arrangements with some friends that worked out (it was really complicated but it worked out) but I won’t bore you with details.
If I had known then about the Hat Creek Carriers things would have been much simpler. They are a company that ships cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, armored vehicles, equipment and trailers both within the United States and Internationally. I found their website hatcreekcarriers.com recently when I was trying to find a way to get my brother’s boat shipped to him when he was moving. He asked me to haul it for him, but since I was injured in that car accident last year I’ve been rather limited on my activity. So I did some searching on the Internet and found their website, and told my brother to use them instead. They haul vehicles for private individuals as well as companies, and I think that is the best answer for him to get his boat where it needs to go.

Well I got up early this morning, as usual (I’m an early riser) but I got dressed and headed out the door at 5:40 to go to the polls to vote. The polling location is only three miles from our house, and I thought that I could get in the door and vote and get back home again PDQ. I was some surprised to find the parking lot full and a long line of people! I tried to park on the street, but a police officer told me that I couldn’t park there and had to move my car. Since I was hurt in a car accident last fall I can’t walk very far, so I couldn’t park far away and walk the rest of the way, so I just came home, discouraged. My wife says to wait until around 10am when most of the people will all be at work, hoping that the polls will be less crowded then.
We live in a small town, with only about 2,000 people in it, so I hope she’s right and that I will be able to vote in a few hours.

I thought it was terribly sad to hear on the news last night that Barack Obama’s grandmother died yesterday of cancer. I had heard that she was ill, and that Barack Obama had gone to see her recently because of her illness. I just think it is so sad that she died when she did – the day before the elections. Not knowing if her grandson was elected or not. And I’m thinking about how this will be such a mixed bag of emotions for Barack Obama, the stress of the elections and the stress of losing his grandmother, it must be a terribly difficult time for the Obama family.

Our son really enjoys certain video games and has gone to a lot of conventions that are related to video games. I can’t remember what they are called – something like game cons. Anyway, when he comes home from these “cons” whatever they are, he brings with him some really cool banners that are pictures of some of his video game characters. We’ve run out of wall space to display the all!
My wife has found some great banner stands we are planning to buy from a website by godfreygroup.com. This company specializes in trade show displays and they have a great assortment of trade show exhibits and trade show booths in addition to the banner stands we are interested in buying.
