Back pain and chiropractors

Filed under: General Living, Health, Shopping — Copa @ 11:05 am

A long time ago I injured my back when I was working on a car and it fell off of the jack and onto me.  It took me out of work for two years, recovering from that accident!  I spent many hours at a chiropractor’s office, getting relief from the back pain.  The doctors told me back then that I’d never be able to live a normal life and that I was essentially going to be disabled forever.

Ever since then I’ve made it a point to go to a chiropractor on a very regular basis.  Not every week, mind you, and not even every month, but I do go several times a year.  I find that going to the chiropractor frequently helps my back feel better.  And let me tell you, that I have been able to live a near normal life for many years.

Up until last October when I was in a car accident, but that is a totally different story!  But I will say that after this recent car accident the “regular doctors” were not giving me any relief at all and I could not even walk.  I went to my chiropractor and after only a couple of adjustments I was able to walk.

What a day

Well yesterday was a glorious day!  I had promised my wife I’d stay home and mow the lawn and help her do a few chores, but the weather was just SO BEAUTIFUL and my brother-in-law Will called and said “let’s go for a motorcycle ride.”  So off I went like a flash.  The heck with mowing the lawn, the grass isn’t going anywhere!  Chores can wait!  Gimme the chrome and the asphalt streaming below my tires!  We rode for at least five hours!  We got caught in a short (but severe) storm and had to wait it out under a bridge but Will had packed snacks and water and we ended up sharing with five other bikers who sought shelter under the same bridge and had ourselves a little biker picnic, admiring everyone else’s bikes.  (I think MINE was the nicest one there!)

I’ve been putting off buying a windshield, but this trip convinced me that a windshield really IS a good idea.  So I’ll be buying one of those as soon as I can.  I think it will be one of those quick-detach types.  They cost more money, but I think that it will be worth it.
