Floral arranging

My wife really enjoys flowers. I really enjoy seeing her face light up when I bring her roses!  However, she fusses a little bit about how she doesn’t really know how to arrange them, or take proper care of them.  I’ve found a U-Tube video by Proflowers that I’m going to show her to help her with that issue.  I’ve just watched the video and I think it might help her to relax a little bit the next time I bring her some roses!

Lilacs and tulips

Filed under: General Living, Home Improvement — Copa @ 10:00 am

I’ve been driving around the last few days and noticing that the lilacs and tulips are in full bloom!  I think the crab-apple trees are blooming, too.  I’m not quite sure of that, a few weeks ago some trees were blooming that I thought were crab-apples, but some folks told me that they were red-buds.  Now the trees that I think might be crab-apples are a deeper red-violet than the ones I saw a few weeks ago, and the flowers are smaller, so I am wondering if these new ones are really the red-buds?!

Mother’s Day and diamonds

Filed under: Family, General Living, Shopping — Copa @ 9:19 am

Mother’s Day is coming up and I want to buy my mother a new diamond ring to show her how much I love her.  I want to do some comparison shopping through a new website that I found out about, www.diamondpriceguru.com

Their website is a plethora of information of diamonds.  They have a great and informational article explaining the twenty most popular diamond scams, and how to avoid them.  I read the article; it was much more informative than I expected and I learned a lot of things from it!  I’m glad that I read it and I think that everyone who is interested in buying a diamond should read it too!

The website also explains in great detail what the 4c’s of diamonds are, color, clarity, carat, and cut.  It explains why each of them is important, and how they effect diamond prices.

In addition, the website explains why it is a good idea to buy a loose diamond and have it put into a setting purchased separately.  You can save up to 30% on the cost of a diamond ring by doing it that way!

Their website also has a link to proposal stories.  I read a few of them; some were really funny, some were really sweet.  Worth a read if you want some tips on what to do or not do if you are thinking about proposing!

The site has a diamond purchasing wizard that helps the diamond customer find the best price on the diamond that you want to buy.  You fill in the price that you want to pay, the carat weight you want to buy, and click on the shape(s) of diamond(s) you are considering, and very quickly it shows you the results - a list of merchants that have the diamond you are looking for!  It compares the 11 most reputable online stores with more than 400 000 diamonds.

I bought a new tv

Filed under: General Living, Home Improvement, Shopping — Copa @ 3:34 am

I bought a new wide screen tv.  It is a 42″ flat screen plasma HD.  It’s the biggest tv I’ve ever bought!  I had my doubts at first, but it seems like everyone’s got something to say about them!  Mostly the people who can’t afford one, or who don’t have one.

One of several things I like about it is that it doesn’t take up any room because it sits up flat against the wall.  When I’m (or my wife is) cooking in the kitchen we are able to see the picture and hear it clearly.  I also noticed that no matter what angle you sit at, you can see the picture clearly.  It was easy to install and surprised me when I found out that it also had a sleep timer on it.

Now that I have this one in the living room, I’m considering putting a 32″ flat screen in the bedroom up close to the ceiling so that when I’m lying in bed at night I can see the tv without squinting.  I’ll make sure that has a sleep timer to shut off by itself too!

I read in yesterday’s paper that they just came out with a 72″ plasma flat screen tv.  I think this is a little overkill (besides my wife would probably over-kill me if I bought something like that) as it would take up the whole living room wall!

The other day my brother in law stopped in and made a comment about HE was going to go buy a flat screen tv, the best that you can buy.  I told him that THIS one was the best one you could buy, and if he read Consumer Reports he’d also find that for 3 years running this has been continuing to stay the best you can buy.  I love it, I’m sure you would too!

Lights

A very important thing to have around the house and vehicles is enough lighting.  Our garage does not have enough lighting inside or outside.  My wife has been asking me for two years to do something about that because when she is going to work in the morning in the winter (and it is dark) or coming home from work in the winter (after dark) she has to use a flashlight to find her way into the house.

She has shown me a website, www.magnalight.com that sells a huge variety of lights and has asked me to consider buying a remote control light to put in the garage.  That way when she needs to find her way to/from the house to/from the garage she can turn it on and off with a remote control, which would save energy costs.

So I went to the website to see what she was talking about, and I found that the website has a huge variety of lights, from 24 volt lights that I can attach to my truck, to boat lights, to rechargeable lights, to equipment lights (that I can attach to my tractor).  In fact, the list is just too long to include them all!

Their website also includes a link to articles that are designed to help you pick out which light is the best one for the purpose you have in mind, and instructions on how to use various lights.
