I’m pretty sure I’ve told you about my daughter. She wants to become a lawyer, but right now she has gotten involved in the local fire department, becoming both a fireman and an EMT, and she is working in the local police department as a corrections officer.
She told me that the fire department has ordered some IFSTA firefighting training videos to help keep the firefighters up to date with all of the latest equipment and procedures. She is also going to sign up for some courses over the Internet to help her prepare for paramedic tests that she would like to take in the near future. The courses she wants to take are through the National Paramedic Institute website.
She said that other members of the fire department took some of their training through this company, and that they were happy with the program. She is confident that she will pass the tests with flying colors.
Over the last ten years I’ve been collecting certain die-cast cars of NASCAR drivers that are my favorites, and who win the top races. I don’t have all the die-cast cars of every race driver out there, but I do have at least one of most every driver that has won a major race. Of course, we all know the top drivers are Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon and Ernie Irvin and Kyle Busch. Also on occasion Jeff Burton and Michael Waltrip win races. Oh, I almost forgot Dale Ernhardt & Dale Ernhardt Jr. I have a lot of their cars, especially the ones with the fancy paint jobs.
One of my favorites die-cast cars is Ernhardt’s car with the pastel colors. You know what I mean if you’ve seen it. I especially enjoy collecting the cars that are painted up like Star Wars or Superman, I have one that has a picture of Brooks & Dunn on it, one with Tweety Bird & Sylvester, and one with the Incredible Hulk. That one is really sharp. We all know like everything else, the price of these cars keeps going up, and with my limited funds I even take the time to discuss this with my wife with just having two or three cars a year versus buying eight or ten. She’s a nut about the finances especially when the bills barely get paid each month.
I haven’t bought a car for pretty much a year now, but what I’m pretty much doing now is buying one or two cars a year, those being the ones of the top #1 and #2 drivers that finish in the top points of NASCAR for the year, that way I have a record each year and a car of the top driver.
My cousin came over last night for supper. I enjoy seeing him, we like to talk about cars, motorcycles, and NASCAR races. We hope to go to a NASCAR race together sometime this summer.
He is a gym teacher at a local middle school. He has been looking for easy middle school fundraisers to raise money for the sports program at his school. We told him to check out www.schoolpop.com for fundraising programs.
Schoolpop is an easy method to raise money for schools. You get people to sign up for the schoolpop program, they register their credit or debit cards with schoolpop, and when they use their registered card at participating merchants, a portion of their purchase goes to the participating school. They can use it at local stores, or to shop online! It is easy to do and it does not cost the participants anything.
